How do we change ships in Starfield?
All players need to do in Starfield to get new ships is play through the game’s main quest, and they will be rewarded with newer ships, which can be switched at any time in the game. The process of changing ships in the game is rather simple. Here is a step-by-step process explaining in detail what needs to be done:
- First, players need to look for a Ship Services Technician in any of the prime cities or even at the outposts in the game—for example, Akila City, The Key, Atlantis, and Neon, among others.
- Then, players need to engage in a conversation. They must select the option in the dialogue that says, ‘I’d like to view and modify my ships.’
- After doing so, to switch between the player’s list of all owned ships, they need to press Q/T or click on the icons they find at the top.
- Then, players must look for the ship they want to change to and click on ‘Make Home Ship’(bottom right) or press H.
- After this is done, players can leave this conversation.
And that is all that players had to do. The selected ship will now be the Home Ship on the landing pad, not the one they came with. This change that is done is, therefore, quite instant, with there being no wait time at all!
If you want to buy new ships, know that these Ship Services Technicians are also the primary source. Usually, there is a trade authority kiosk nearby, too, so if you want to sell anything, you can head there, as this is where almost anything can be sold for a particular amount.
It is important to note that if you shift from a ship with a crew capacity of 4 to one with only 2, then automatically, 2 of your companions will be booted out. You can revisit the crew screen (C) to reassign them.
