Starfield: How to change inside of Ship

Starfield allows its players to build their dream ship or sci-fi vessel by providing many options. However, at this point, many players wonder if this also means they get the option to design their ship’s interior, too.

Now, even though the game does not provide its players with any tool for such, a few workarounds allow the players to decorate their living quarters and their cockpits however they want, thereby transforming the ship’s interior into something more personal. So, if you want to know how this can be done, keep reading to find out!

How do you change/customize the Interior of your Ship in Starfield

Change inside the ship Starfield

Players must change their ship’s habitat modules to modify their ship’s interiors. They must first head to the Ship Builder Menu and explore the different HAB options. Then, several manufacturers can install different models, with each of these manufacturers offering the players unique decorative interiors.

These HAB modules in the game provide the players with unique interiors and make them into different variants. Simply pressing the left or right buttons on their D-pad, players can browse what is offered and explore the different modified aesthetics for their living quarters.

How do you get different HABs in Starfield?

Players must converse with different sellers to unlock all the habitat or HAB modules. In each of these Modules, a Salesperson or Ship Service Technician offers the players a distinct range of HABs, usually exclusive to the player’s inventory.

We recommend players make an Outpost with a Landing Pad and a Shipbuilder. This is because it gets really easy for the players to access the HAB modules they have unlocked from their settlement itself, thereby removing the whole process of traveling to other planets.

How do you decorate your Living Quarters in Starfield?

It is a manual process to decorate their ship’s interior. To do so, players will drop, grab, and place the ornaments in a distinct part of their ship’s interior, including their storage, living quarters, and the cockpit. Here is a step-by-step process as to how this can be done for any item:

  1. Firstly, players will have to add to their inventory a decorative item.
  2. Then, they need to go to their ship and locate a HAB.
  3. Players will then have to open their inventory and drop the decorative item.
  4. Then, they must grab it by pressing and holding A(E for PC).
  5. By using a Left click or Right click, they can rotate it. Tip: Change the rotation axis using the LS button(Shift for PC).
  6. And lastly, they need to place it on the shelf or the container by pressing A(E for PC).

How do you save the changes to the Ship’s interior?

After the players decorate their ships, they must manually save the game or trigger an autosave. This helps ensure that the decorative items remain intact when the game is reloaded. However, note that there might be a small possibility that the game fails to load them back in their exact positions, thereby losing these items. Also, in case of changing the Home Ship, the decorations return to their inventory.
