The Black Screen issue is one of the most annoying issues you will face, as this bug prevents the game from running, indicating that it might either crash or you need to force close or relaunch it. The developers have already taken notice of this and will fix it in the future updates that they release for Starfield. But until then, if you want to enjoy Starfield without the black screen issues, this article will guide you on how to fix them.
How to Fix Starfield Black Screen Issue
This is a major problem in the game, and PC Players especially have been encountering a black screen after launching the game. Players said they encountered these black screen issues when they launched the game. You take these steps to fix this Black Screen issue in Starfield.
Update Graphics Card Drivers
The primary way of fixing black screen issues is Graphics Driver Updates. All you need to do is go to either Nvidia or AMD’s website and download and install the latest graphics driver manually. I know this is a very basic suggestion, but trust us, updating graphics cards is the first thing you want to do before you start playing Starfield.
Add Exception to your Antivirus
It might happen that your Antivirus is quarantining the Starfield executable file, and because of that, you are experiencing the black screen issues. So, all you have to do is add Starfield.exe to the exception list. To do so:
- Open Windows Settings and select Update and Security.
- Go to Windows Security and click on Virus and Threat Protection.
- Click on Manage Settings under Virus and Threat Protection Settings.
- Scroll down until you find the Exclusions option.
- Under the Exclusions, click on the Add or Remove Exclusions.
- Select the Starfield.exe after you click on Add an Exclusion.
- After adding it, get back to the desktop and restart Starfield.
Install the Latest Windows Media Pack
This can go a bit out of the way in terms of Black Screen Fixes. But we have reports of players stopped encountering the Black screen issues when they installed the latest Windows Media Feature Pack from Microsoft. Go to the product page, select and download the latest May 2019 Edition pack, and install it. Restart your PC once you are done.
