How would you like it if CS2 had skins for Grenades and the C4? Here’s everything we’ve got on it so far:
Pros and Cons of Grenade and C4 Skins in CS2
Now that CS GO has successfully and completely been transformed into CS2, it goes unsaid that there will be new stuff added to the game. I’m hoping for a new operation, perhaps, but this is Valve we’re talking about. You just never know. On the upside, however, there’s an interesting feature that has been added to CS2- The ability to inspect grenades as well as the C4. Does this mean that there’ll be skins for grenades and the C4?
I do personally want there to be skins for Grenades as well as the C4. It’d look cool. Maybe an Asiimov Smoke Grenade or a Hyper Beast Flashbang would cut it, however, there’s a massive downside to this, which I’ll get to in a moment. The community, on the other hand, seems to have a mixed review about all of this.
Cons
The only downside that this has is the fact that due to skins, you might not be able to actually tell what’s flying towards you. Maybe if an enemy throws a smoke at you, you might think of it being a flash, and boom, the next thing you know – you’re dead. The C4, on the other hand, if it’s got a camouflaged skin, in a post-plant situation, you might not be able to find it in time and lose the round due to it. These things are crucial when it comes to actual Counter-Strike gameplay, and hence, Valve needs to consider all of this before any skin for a grenade or the C4 is added to the game.
Pros
It’d look cool, a new cosmetic. Maybe a skin for all kinds of grenades – except the Molotov, of course- that’s just weird, but the best part about it could be the StatTrak feature, you’ll be able to track every kill you’ve made with a grenade and that does it for me.
To sum it all up, I think it’s too early as of right now to guess whether there’ll be grenade skins added to CS2. However, it’d be a cool thing to have. But again, Valve does need to consider all of the downsides to this before something like this is introduced into the game. It’d be game-breaking if there was some exposure due to grenade skins, and given the CS2 Pro-scene where the stakes are so high, every little detail matters, and hence, that’s another reason for Valve to NOT release grenade skins anytime soon.
