How to fix TLOU Crashing and Freezing issues
The Last of US Part 1 launch on PC was buggy, and even Naughty Dog addressed it in one of their tweets that they are working on an official patch and will also improve the experience in the upcoming patches. The game has a lot of crashing issues, graphical issues (hilarious ones, to say the least) and performance issues. While the developers are fixing this game, you can submit a ticket on their official website if you face problems like TLOU not launching or failing to launch at Startup. We played a couple of Playstation-based titles released on PC earlier this year or last year, and honestly, we didn’t face issues like this.
However, if you can’t wait to play the game, you can try some of these fixes, which might help you experience The Last of Us Part 1 better till the official patches are out.
Wait till the Building Shaders Process is complete.
For many players, the game crashes because it fails to build the Shaders Process or the whole process gets interrupted. Yes, the process of Building Shaders is long, and it takes a little time. Be patient and wait until the process is complete because the shaders must be appropriately incorporated into the game; otherwise, it will crash. The process does take a lot of time, as we discussed here.
Restart your PC or Laptop
You can also try restarting your PC or Laptop, as this is one of the most famous ways of getting things to at least work. You can also try relaunching your Game client before restarting your PC.
Close whichever platform you use to run the game and restart the system. Relaunch the game to see if the problem persists.
Verify the Integrity of the Game Files
I have The Last of Us on Steam, so I first verified the files on Steam so the launcher can download files if required. If you don’t know the exact steps:
- Open your Steam Library.
- Locate The Last Of Us Part 1.
- Right-click on it and select Properties.
- Select Local Files from the left and click ‘Verify integrity of game files’.
- The verification process will take some time, so wait a while. After it is done, restart Steam, and try starting the game again.
For those who have the game on Epic Games, you can verify it using the following steps. It will automatically download any pending required files from the Game Server.
- Open Epic games and find The Last of Us Part 1 Game.
- The game should be under the Installed Games Tab
- Select the Manage option and click on Verify.
