Is Starfield Open World?

In the year 2018, Bethesda Game Studios officially revealed the ambitious, Space-based RPG ‘Starfield,’ a game whose likes of which players have never seen. The years of development that followed the announcement revealed that the game is set to be released in the month of September 2023, and Bethesda, for the most part, has been quite forthcoming about Starfield and the features of it.

The following guide covers a very intriguing question, which is, is the game Starfield, Open World? Keep reading to find out all that there is to know!

Is Starfield Open World?

In the run-up to the highly awaited launch of Bethesda Game Studios’s all-new space-faring adventure, a monumental revelation was made, which revealed that the game is going to be set in an open world. However, it gets bigger than this. Bethesda did not stop merely at an Open world. They made a whole Open Universe!

The game is set to contain more than 1000 planets that can be explored by the players that are scattered across 100 star systems. The game is a gargantuan undertaking that has only been mirrored by games like No Man’s Sky, which, too, was generated procedurally and is an infinite game that features a journey beyond bounds across space.

So to simply answer whether Starfield is open world or not, the answer is yes, but it goes way beyond that!

At this moment, we do not have a real representation of the extent of the vast map of Starfield, but it is safe to assume that when you do get to see it, it’ll be mind-blowing. There is a lot of ground for the players to explore, but unlike No Man’s Sky, at least Starfield’s exploration is doable, even though it might take hundreds and thousands of hours to do so. To give you an estimate, it will take you approximately 166 hours to see everything there is to see in Starfield, given that you spend only 10 minutes on each planet.

The game Starfield is ripe for exploration, and the players can travel at their own pace in the open world in the game. However, if you are a completionist, then you have all the liberty to travel to every corner of what will probably be one of the few biggest maps in gaming history.

On the contrary, if you are a limited-time and fast-paced player, then you will be able to complete the game without exploring the universe much. The game is unlike Elder Scrolls and Fallout Franchises, as you don’t need to unlock all locations to complete the base game.

That pretty much sums up all that there is to know about whether Starfield is Open World or not. Stay tuned with us for further updates!
