This guide will show you how to solve or open the doors with animal symbols on them and numbers written in the middle.
There is no doubt that Hogwarts Legacy has a wide range of puzzles. Some are pretty easy to figure out, while some can be very difficult to crack. One such puzzle is the Door with Ten Animal Symbols on top of it. I am not really sure what to call this puzzle. Different people are calling it via different names. Some are even calling it the “Maths Puzzle.” This does make sense, as it does require you to show your calculating skills. Moving on.
Most people will come by this puzzle near the Central Hall, right after they finish talking to Professor Weasley and are given the task to attend Defense against Dark Arts Class and Charms class.
This is what the puzzle looks like:
In this case, as you can see, there are two numbers in the middle of two Circles, surrounded by two Triangles, that have three small circles on each of them, with each circle housing a number or an animal symbol.
We can also see a circle with a single Question Mark, and a circle with double Question Marks. To solve the puzzle, we will have to find out the value of those two circles with question marks. But the question is how to do that?
How to Solve the Door Puzzle with Animal Symbols
The first thing we have to do is label the Ten Animal Symbols on top with number 0-9. So, here is the correct approach:
Now, if we look at the diagram on top. The number in the middle is 21, the circle on the left is 11, and the circle on the top has the animal symbol that we have already labeled as “2”. So the value of that symbol is 2. To find the value of the question mark or the third circle, we have to make sure that the total value of the three circles, when added, becomes 21.
So, let’s take the circle with question mark as ‘X’. Therefore:
- 11+2(Value of the symbol is 2)+X = 21
- Or, 13+X =21
- Or, X=21-13
- Or, X=8
So, the value of the circle with the single question mark is 8. And, on the screenshot above, the animal symbol we have labeled as 8, is the Spider Symbol.
Now, go to the dice on the left side of the door, and roll the Spider Symbol on that. It should look like this:
Time to look at the second diagram. The second diagram has the number 17 in the middle. But this time the circles surrounding it don’t have any number. Instead, they have two animal symbols and a circle with double Question Mark.
Now, the symbols inside the circles have already been labeled 5 and 9, respectively.
So, let’s take the circle with double question mark as ‘X’ again. Therefore:
- 5+9+X = 17
- Or, 14+X = 17
- Or, X = 17-14
- Or, X = 3
So, the value of the circle with the double question mark is 3. And, on the screenshot above, the animal symbol we have labeled as 3, is the Dragon with Three Heads.
Now, we have to find the dice where we can roll this animal symbol. You won’t find that near the door. Instead, go up the stairs, and go up the second set of stairs. You will find the second dice on the wall at the end of those stairs. Roll the Dragon with Three Heads symbol on it. It should look like this:
After rolling the dice, go back to the door, and it should open now. Inside the door, you will find a large chest and a small chest. Inside the large, I personally got a pair of Silver Specatacles.
And that is all that you have to do to solve the Door Puzzle with 10 Animal Symbols.
