Hogwarts Legacy is finally here, and the release has been phenomenal so far. I have already sunk around 7 hours into the game, and I have loved every bit of it. Anyway, Hogwarts Legacy is filled with puzzles. So can be solved pretty easily, while some might leave you scratching your head. One such puzzle is the Black Painting puzzle.
You first come by this Black Painting puzzle or Black Photo puzzle when you reach the Central Hall with Professor Weasley. After finishing talking to her, you get to interact with people around you at the Central Hall. One of the first NPCs you come by is Lenora Everleigh. She tells you that she is not being able to solve a puzzle. That is when this puzzle gets unlocked for you.
How to Solve the Black Painting Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy
Now the question is how to solve this Empty Frame puzzle. If you take a closer look at the picture frame, you will notice some moths surrounding the painting and a huge Moth outline under the painting. To solve the puzzle, you will have to find the missing moth, and put it there.
It is actually easier than you think. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Go near the Black Painting.
- Cast the Lumos spell.
- An image will appear on the frame, and the next Objective will be to ”Find the location depicted in the painting”.
- That image shows the location where the Moth is located.
- Your job is to look for that location.
- For me, the first painting that I saw in the Central Hall showed a location that is just near Central Hall stairs.
- The location also has a statue near it. Here is the exact location:
- Go to this location, and you will see the Moth on the wall.
- To attract the Moth, cast Lumos again, and the Moth will start flying around your wand, and your Objective will update to “Return the moth to the painting.”
- Bring the Moth to the painting, and cast a spell with your mouse left-click or whatever your spell cast button is, at the painting.
- As soon as you do so, the Moth will fill the empty space, and you will successfully solve the puzzle.
After completing the puzzle, go and talk to Lenora Everleigh, and you will complete the Quest, “Like a Moth to a Frame”.
