How to Save in Baldur's Gate 3

How to Save in Baldur’s Gate 3

Players can save in the game Baldur’s Gate 3 in three ways. Let us take a look at each one of them:

Manually Save: Open the Menu and select ‘Save Game’

To do this, players must open the menu by pressing the Escape key for PC when not in battle. Then, select the Save Game button. This will bring up the Save screen. An advantage of saving through the menu is that it allows players to name the files before saving them. Additionally, it also enables players to overwrite the older files.

Quick Save: Press the Quicksave Button

To do this, players must press the Quicksave button, which is F5 for PC. With a single press of a button, players can quicksave. This saves the hassle of going to the menu too!

Note: At some point, the Older Quicksave Files will get Overwritten by the newer Quicksaves. However, in the Options Menu’s Gameplay tab, players can change how many quicksaves they can have before they are overwritten. The maximum number for this is 25 quicksaves.

Autosave Triggers (in certain events)

The game also has, for its players, the system of autosave. This gets triggered while the players are finding waypoints, discovering new locations, and a few other instances. However, in the Options Menu’s Gameplay tab, make sure that the option of Autosave is turned on, though, by default, this is turned on.

Note: At some point, the Older Autosave Files will get Overwritten by the newer autosaves. However, in the Options Menu’s Gameplay tab, players can change how many autosaves they can have before they are overwritten. The maximum number for this is 15 autosaves.

Loading a Save in Baldur’s Gate 3

There are two ways by which players can load a save; let us take a look at both of them:

Open Menu and select ‘Load Game’

This is manually loading the game. For this, open the menu and select the ‘Load Game’ option to prompt the Load screen. Then, the players must choose the save they want to load and select the ‘Load Saved Game’ option (bottom of the screen).

Quickload (loading the latest save)

This can be done to quickly access the latest save by pressing the Quickload button, which is F8 for PC.

Note: This option opens up the latest ‘Save,’ not ‘Quicksave.’ So, as long as your latest save is an autosave or a manual save, you are good to go, and that save will get loaded by this option.

That pretty much sums up all that there is to know about How to save in Baldur’s Gate 3.
