Apex Legends how to play Horizon – The Season 7 update or the Ascension update has finally arrived in Apex Legends. This update has brought a ton of changes to the game, which also includes a barrage of great buffs for various Legends and Weapons. You can read the full patch notes here.
Seasonal updates in Apex Legends come with a lot of additions. In Season 6, we got to see a brand new SMG that uses Energy ammo. And also a brand new Legend, like every other season. Season 7 is no different, as the newest Legend making entry into the game in this season is, Horizon. So what is the best way to play Horizon? Here are some tips.

Horizon – Legend Description
Horizon is the new legend in Season 7. Her custom space suit allows her to fall from great heights and control her movements in the air. Using her custom technology, she can use gravity lifts to give her team a vertical boost, and she can even deploy NEWT (her small robot named after her son, Newton) to drop a micro black hole that pulls opponents into the center for some serious crowd control.
Abilities
Passive: Spacewalk
Horizon’s spacesuit provides her with increased control while she is in air. This passive of here also reduces the fall impacts. So no more slowing when dropping from a height.
Tactical: Gravity Lift
The name of the ability is pretty self-explanatory. Horizon deploys a “gravity” “lift” that allows her and her teammates to reach heights, that cannot be reached otherwise. This ability has a 15s cooldown and the ability remains active for about 7 seconds. But remember, opponents can also use your gravity lift to reach you. Looks like Loba and Octane has some competition here to be honest.
If you have played Season 6 in Apex Legends then I am pretty sure that you have encountered several gravity lifts scattered across Kings Canyon and World’s Edge. This is exactly the same thing.
Ultimate: Black hole
This the Ultimate ability of Horizon. She deploys a NEWT to create a portable black hole that sucks in nearby Legends. This ability kind of reminds me of Vauban from Warframe. He has a similar ability called Vortex. And it does the exact same thing.
How to play Horizon – Useful Tips for Beginners
The first question that arises here is, what type of legend is Horizon. Is she an aggressive character or a passive character? Well, I can see Horizon performing well in many scenarios to be honest.
Now that I think about it, the Gravity Lift is actually a toned down version of Pathfinder’s Zipline ability. Yes you do not get the freedom of horizontal or the slanting movement that Zipline gives you, but still you can use this ability to give yourself and your teammates a height advantage. Which is probably one of the most important things to consider during fights in Apex Legends.
But that is not even the best part. You can actually use this lift as a trap and lift your opponents in the air, making them almost helpless. You can place the lift in front of doors to prevent your opponents from entering your building. And I don’t know about you, but I find my opponents way easier to hit when they are in mid-air. It is fun doing it with Octane’s Jump Pad and it is fun doing it with the Gravity Lift.
She can also lift Tridents with the Gravity Lift. Imagine lifting a Trident that has a squad in it, and tossing it off the boundaries. Oh yes! I am going to try that for sure
If you ask me, the Tactical ability is the most useful ability of Horizon. Any ability that provides extra mobility in this game, is a top tier ability according to me. I will be testing this ability a lot more and will keep you updated with everything new that I discover.
Now let’s talk about the Black Hole. I feel like the Black Hole ability does that same thing that Caustic’s and Crypto’s ultimate does. This ability is to make your opponents panic and force them to make a wrong move. There is no doubt that this is an aggressive ability and you have to push with your team as soon as you deploy this.
The Black Hole ability opens up a ton of possibilities and combos that can be tried with other Legends. I think the best ability, that complements Black Hole the most, is Caustic’s Ultimate. I mean, you drop the Black Hole, your opponents get sucked towards it and you ask the Caustic from your team to chuck his Lemon at them. Easy damage farming!
Even if you do not have a Caustic, just stack a bunch of Grenades and Arc Stars towards the singularity. That is a scar your opponents won’t be able to heal anytime soon.
This ability could also be easily used as a mode of escape. As soon as you feel that you might lose a fight, just rush towards your nearest chokepoint and drop the Black Hole there. You will get enough time to heal and reset.
