Assassin’s Creed (AC) Mirage – Stuttering and Freezing fix for PC

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is quite a demanding title, and you can easily guess it by simply looking at its system requirements. To play this game, you will at least need to have an Intel Core i7-4790K or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Processor. You also need to have at least a GTX 1060 or an AMD Ryzen RX570, and if you are on the Intel side, then you will at least need to have the Intel Arc A380. Additionally, 8GB RAM is the minimum requirement to run this game, although 16GB RAM is always recommended to try your hands on this title. The above-mentioned system requirements are required if you can play the game at the lowest settings with 30FPS on a standard 1080p display. If you don’t meet the requirements, this guide might not help you.

Also, you must be sure about the minimum and the recommended system requirements in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It would be best to optimize all the proper installed drivers for this title. You can download the latest Nvidia Graphics Drivers from here, or if you have an AMD GPU, you can download the files here. Here are the PC Requirements for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

AC Mirage – Optimal Graphics Settings

Try setting every single Graphics Settings to Low, and use DLSS or AMD FSR along with that. If you notice that your performance has improved, then you have your solution right off the bad. You don’t need to read any further.

Now, one by one, keep on increasing the quality of the settings and check which setting is affecting the fps the most. I would recommend that you use an FPS counter. Ubisoft has its own FPS counter. You can turn that on from the Settings Menu of Ubisoft Connect. Once you find the setting that is having the most negative impact on your performance, set it low, and set everything else according to your liking. I have done a few performance tests for Assassin’s Creed Mirage on my YouTube channel. Here is one:

Disable all Pop-Up Notifications and Overlays

Ubisoft Connect

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a Ubisoft Game, so you are bound to use the Ubisoft Connect. And it comes with in-game overlays, which occasionally makes the game laggy. You can turn off these notifications, as they pop up randomly, making your applications or games stutter. To turn this off, you can do the following:

  1. Go to Ubisoft Connect and select Settings.
  2. Go to the General Tab and uncheck “Enable In-Game Overlay for Supported Games”
  3. Uncheck the “Enable Post Game Notifications for upcoming releases, events, promotions, and the additions to my games”

Epic Games Overlay

You can also disable all the notifications when playing Assassins Creed Mirage. All you need to do is go to the Settings menu and scroll down to find the Desktop Notifications Section. Uncheck the box that says “Show Free Game Notifications” and “Show News and Special Offer Notifications” and you are done.

Also, if you have other overlays turned on, like the Nvidia or AMD Overlays, turn those off immediately.

Windows Features

A lot of Windows Features are installed by default that keeps running in the background while utilizing tons of system resources for no reason. You must also disable those to get the performance boost in AC Mirage and almost all games.

For Example, if you are recording while playing the game, AC Mirage might stutter. If you are not equipped with a powerful processor, disabling all the background recordings would be the best. You can do that by going into the “Gaming” Settings that you will find under the Game Settings Menu. Inside the settings, on the left, you will find the “Captures”. Disable the Background Recording Features just by clicking on it.

You will also need to disable the Xbox Game Bar Feature. For that, you first need to go to

  1. Windows Settings
  2. Head to Gaming
  3. Turn off the Xbox Game Bar Feature.

The Game Mode Feature on Windows either works or doesn’t. It works for some games, but it doesn’t work for other games. So it’s advisable to turn it off. This is how you can try disabling the Game Mode on Windows.

  1. Open the Windows Settings
  2. Go to Gaming and select the Game mode from the Left Sidebar.
  3. Turn that off and restart your Game Launcher.

Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling

If you are on the latest Windows Build, you should be able to use the new feature called the Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling. You need a recently released graphics card with the latest drivers installed to benefit from this. To turn this feature on, go to System and select the display Tab. Scroll down, and you will find the Graphics Settings option. Click on that, turn on the Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling, and restart your PC.

If you are still facing issues, you can reinstall Assassin’s Creed Mirage. We would also love to add that we are still testing out the games, and more fixes are on the way.

We will update this article as we get more information about fixing stuttering and Lags in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
