Starfield: How to Quick Swap Weapons

Starfield is finally out, and players have jumped right into the game to try their hands at this space-based RPG set in an open world, the likes of which players have never seen. There are many things that players are unaware of, and one such thing is the fact that they can carry 12 guns together. If you want to know how they can equip multiple weapons and quickly swap between them, you have come to the right place. Keep reading to find out!

Right from the first mission in the game, when the Pirates are attacking the space, the crisis of weapons & equipment begins. In this, players get the option to help the pirates by fighting back and are given the option to get hold of a pistol. However, when this is done, the pistol disappears, and players are left with a cutter and nothing else. This makes many of us wonder, as game beginners, about the whereabouts of these looted guns. This also makes us want to equip several firearms simultaneously, so we are not left with a mere less-than-lethal cutter.

How can you swap weapons in Starfield

Players will head to their Favorites list to carry several weapons at once in Starfield and, there, add several weapons. To explain in detail, here is what needs to be done. First, players must head to the Inventory, select Weapons, and press Y on their desired gun; for PC, it is the B key. When players add these guns to their favorite list, it will prompt the quick slot menu to open. Here, players can then assign a shortcut to that particular firearm. Similarly, the other firearms can be assigned different shortcuts.

How can you quickly swap in Starfield

Those playing Starfield on their PC need to simply press the key assigned to their firearms in the quick slot menu of that particular gun. For the Xbox players, players can access their guns quickly by using the D-pad keys. Players must make at least 2 weapons as their favorites to use this feature.

Note that the PC players can access all the 12 slots available by pressing the shortcut keys assigned. However, the Xbox players only have access to 4 slots corresponding to their D-pad having only four directions.

Unequipping weapons in Starfield

To unequip weapons, players need to hold their reload button, which for Xbox is X and for PC is R. This is quite a useful feature as in case of unintended encounters when players unequip their weapon, NPCs usually stop attacking. An alternate way to unequip weapons is through their inventory in the weapons section. Players must hover over the weapon’s name and then left-click or press the A key to unequip it.

Changing Key Bindings for Weapons in Starfield

Players must put the guns in distinct slots to assign keys to different guns. As for the PC players, as previously mentioned, they can assign different keys to each of the guns, like Z, [], 1-9. To modify this hotkey, they can head to the Settings menu and, under the Action tab, find the Binding section and modify the shortcuts. As for the players on Xbox, modifying the weapon slot buttons is simply changing the key binding assigned to each of the four weapons. They must head to the Settings menu and then adjust the ‘Quick-key’ buttons according to their liking or comfort.

That pretty much sums up all that there is to know about how to swap weapons in Starfield Quickly.
