The first and foremost thing that you will have to do in your quest to unlock the Engineer class is to pay a visit to the second overworld on N’erud, and then within the fog that surrounds the area, look for the Alien Device. If you want to use the Engineer class and equip the Dryzy Caliper, you must return this device to Wallace. 

First found by ‘Legacy Gaming’, they mention that using the Explorer’s Treasure Hunter skill (at level 10) will allow you to see, in the fog, the corpse and, beneath it, the alien device too.

If Engineer Prime is available in the game, the weapon already in hand or on the battlefield will be overclocked. To reclaim the weapon, double press the button, returning almost 75% of the remaining ammo. 
Flamethrower A Flamethrower Turret is deployed that lasts till your ammo gets exhausted. The turrets that can aim will focus on the targets that you aim at. To enable autonomous targeting, you will have to press the skill again. You must hold the button to deploy the Heavy Carry mode. Impact Cannon An Impact Cannon Turret is deployed that lasts till your ammo gets exhausted. The turrets that can aim will focus on the targets that you aim at. If Engineer Prime is available in the game, the weapon already in hand or on the battlefield will be overclocked. Prime Perk A deployed or carried heavy weapon will overclock when you hold the skill button. This grants increased fire rate, infinite ammo, and also, for 15 seconds, 25% increased damage. 
Metalworker This will increase by almost 5% the skill damage. 
Magnetic Field  To all of the allies within a radius of 2.5m, a 15% damage reduction will be granted by Heavy Weapons. 
Heavy Mobility  While carrying a heavy weapon, by 35%, movement speed is increased.
Surplus  15% of heavy weapon ammo is refilled by using a relic. When a heavy weapon is stowed, the bonus is doubled.
