Use Windows Game Mode
If you are a Windows 10 user, then you are probably already aware of the Game Mode feature in Windows 10. What Game mode does is it prevents Windows Update from performing driver installations and sending restart notifications, and it also helps your system towards achieving more stable frame rates depending on the specific game and system. Here is how to turn on Game Mode:
- Press the Start button
- Click on Settings
- Select Gaming
- Now select Game Mode for the sidebar
- Turn Game Mode On
Disable Xbox Game Bar
It has been a while since Microsoft introduced the Xbox Game Bar feature on Windows 10. Sadly it still causes fps drops in some games. I am not sure if your lag in Hellpoint has anything to do with the game bar or not, but it is better to keep it off. Here is how to do it:
- Open Windows 10 Settings menu
- Click on Gaming
- Select Xbox Game Bar from the left sidebar
- Turn it off
- Restart your game launcher
Avoid GPU overclocking to fix crashes
If by any chance you are witnessing random crashes and freezes in Hellpoint then chances are it is being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background. A lot of games have been suffering from crashes lately due to applications like MSI Afterburner or Zotac firestorm. So it is best to stay on the safe side and run your graphics card on default speeds.
Disable Steam Input
A lot of people have managed to fix the stuttering by just turning off the Steam Input Per-Game setting. Here is how to do it:
- Launch Steam
- Go to your Library
- Right Click on Hellpoint
- Select Properties
- Set Steam Input Per-Game setting to Forced Off
Disable Steam Overlay
The Steam Overlay is recently causing problems in a lot of games. Try turning it off.
If you want to turn off Steam Overlay for all your Steam games then:
- Open the Steam client
- Navigate to the Steam Settings
- Select the In-game tab
- Un-check the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.
If you want to turn off Steam Overlay only for Hellpoint then:
- Go to you Steam Library
- Right-click on Hellpoint
- Select Properties
- Under the General tab, check the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game
Turn off Windows 10 Background Recording
The Captures tool on Windows 10 often tend to take up a lot of resources and the Background Recording feature always records in the background while you are playing any game. So turn it off would immediately give you a boost. Here is how to do it:
- Open Windows Settings
- Click on Gaming
- Select Captures
- Turn off Background Recording
Try Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
If you have the latest build of Windows 10 (2004) then you should make use of the brand new feature called hardware-accelerated gpu scheduling. If you have a decent graphics card then you might actually benefit from this. Here is how to turn it on:
- Go to Windows 10 settings
- Click on System
- Select the Display tab on the left
- Scroll down, and you will notice an option called Graphics Settings at the bottom
- Click on it
- Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling
- Restart your PC
Preferred Graphics Processor (For Nvidia Laptop users)
If your laptop features an Nvidia graphics card inside, then you need to make sure your laptop is using that instead of the low powered integrated one.
- Just open Nvidia Control Panel
- Click on Manage 3D settings located on the left side
- Select the Program Settings tab
- Under “Select a program to customize” select Hellpoint
- If it is not there then click on Add and then select it
- Now set “Select the preferred graphics processor for this program” to “High-performance NVIDIA processor”
Disable Nvidia GeForce Experience Overlay (For Nvidia users)
Recently, I have noticed that a lot of Nvidia services would pop up whenever I turn on the Nvidia In-Game Overlay. You won’t realize until you check properly that there are a lot of these services and though individually they are consuming very little percentage of your CPU, when you combine them it is a hefty chunk. So try turning it off.
- Launch Nvidia Geforce Experience
- Click on the Settings icon in the top right corner
- Select the General Tab
- Turn of In-Game Overlay
- Restart your system
