Tekken 8 is a game that would always be meant to be played on a controller. But since the game was released, we have been getting errors of the Controller not working or not detecting in-game. We also got a similar issue with our copy of the game, and we think switching to a different controller helped, but feel free to check out our other tips and suggestions to make your controller work in Tekken 8.
What to do if your Controller is not Working in Tekken 8?
Since the game just got released, it might take some time for the developers to patch the issues, so it’s better to try applying the following tips and tricks to get your controller working.
1. Avoid Wireless Controllers
Wireless Controllers are the thing in 2024, but not everyone is lucky with it. We have found people complaining on the forums about their Wireless Controllers not working or not getting detected when playing Tekken 8. We had a similar issue when we connected our trusty Xbox Controller wirelessly with a dongle, and the game didn’t detect it. Furthermore, we used an old Generic Wired Gamepad, and it started working flawlessly. We also have reports of players getting randomly disconnected when using Bluetooth to play the game. So, keeping a wired controller to tackle problems like these is always advisable.
2. Remove other controllers that are not in use
If multiple controllers are plugged into your PC, you might face issues like these. We have had issues like this with other games, and it is common with people using multiple game controllers like Joysticks, Steering Wheels, Xbox Controllers, and Playstation Controllers.
3. Check Controller connection
To see if every controller is properly connected or not, you can try doing this:
- First, open up the Steam App
- Go to the Settings and Select the Controller options
- Click on the Controller Settings, and you will find the connected controllers.
- You can also click on the Begin Test to test the device inputs.
- If it is not showing up, try disconnecting and Reconnecting the controller.
- Shut down and Restart your PC, and then launch Tekken 8.
Problems like these crop up mostly when Wireless controllers are connected. Try using a wired controller mentioned earlier, and you will have no issues. You can also check if your Controller is connected by opening the Device Manager. First, type Device Manager on the Windows Search Bar and click on Sound and Game Controllers. Check if your Controller is showing up or not under that menu.
4. Disable the Steam Input
You can also Disable the Steam input. It helps you load the default profiles, and if you are not aware of it, here are the steps to take:
- First, open up the Steam App.
- From the list, find Tekken 8 and right-click on it.
- Select Properties, and you will find an option that says “Override for Tekken 8”
- Select the Disable Steam Input Option and relaunch the game.
However, if you have already disabled it, try enabling it and playing the game again. Remember that Overriding Controller settings can break your controllers.
5. Try a new USB Port or a New Game Controller
If the above methods don’t work, switching to a new USB Port on your PC is best to see if that works for you. On the other hand, it might also happen that your Gaming Controller is busted, which is why it is not getting detected in the game. You can try out a different game to see if it makes a difference. If the controller fails to work on other games, it might be time to get a new one.
