Helldivers 2 is a third-person action shooter game, so playing this with a controller will not be an issue. However, getting the controller to work with the game became a pain for many users. Since I am very active on forums, it’s better to give a few tips that you can try out to fix the Controller not working in Helldivers 2.

So, in this article, we will guide you on how to fix the Helldivers 2 Controller not working issue.

Here are some tips to fix Helldivers 2 Controller issues that are not working.

Even in the era of Wireless Controllers, you might not get lucky every time connecting to the game. This happened with many players playing Helldivers 2 with a Wireless controller. When I ran the game initially, I also faced a similar issue, and it got fixed immediately as soon as I switched to my Wired Xbox Game Controller and removed the unused controllers. Players also reported input lag and latency when playing the game using a controller that uses Bluetooth Connectivity.

Remember that if you have multiple unused controllers connected simultaneously, it’s better to disconnect them except for the one you intend to use. I faced a similar issue in Saints Row IV, where I had to disconnect my Logitech G29 Wheel to make my controller work.

Your Controller might be having detection issues

Check whether all the controllers are detected in the Steam App. To do this, you must open Steam App > Settings > Controller Option > Find Connected Controllers > You can test each device by clicking the Begin Test Option. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting if they are not showing up. When they show up, restart your PC and reboot the game.

These problems arise explicitly whenever you are using a Wireless Controller. You can try using a Wired Controller, as we suggested earlier, and see if it is detected in the game or showing up on the Device Manager. First, open up Windows Search Bar > Type Device Manager to do that. As soon as it opens, double-check and see if the controller is showing up on the list of connected devices.

Try switching to a newer USB port if you think that the USB Port itself might be faulty. Take a pen drive and try using it on the suspected malfunctioned Port to see whether the system detects it.

Load the default profiles by disabling the Steam Input. This is how you can disable the Steam Input:

  1. Open Steam from your Desktop
  2. Find Helldivers 2 and right-click on it
  3. Select properties, and once a new window opens, you will find an option that says “Override for Helldivers 2.”
  4. Tick that box, and you are done
  5. Restart the Game

You can enable it if you find the option disabled and vice versa. Try the game by keeping it on and off to see if your problems get fixed.

Maybe it is time to get a new one

If your controller is not getting detected in any of the games, then it might be a fault with the controller itself. I always prefer branded controllers as they have better support for all the games than the local/generic budget ones you find online. You might face many connectivity issues with modern titles if you get a local/generic one. I had one, and trust me, it was a nightmare getting to work on many games. This happens primarily because of their inability to download and install officially updated drivers.

So that was all about fixing controller issues in Helldivers 2. If you still have problems, you can send the developers a ticket by visiting their website.
