Fix Explore the Ruins Bug Baldur’s Gate 3

Fix Explore the Ruins Bug – One of the side-quests you can go up against quite early in the game. However, at a beginner level, it isn’t feasible for any player, so most players leave this quest to complete it later. Once they do, they realize they’re now hard-stuck on a bug occurring with this particular side quest.

This bug only occurs when you’ve skipped the side-quest and returned to it after a while. If you’re facing the same bug, keep reading this article as we get to the bottom of how you can fix it!

Fix Explore the Ruins Bug Baldur's Gate 3

The Explore the Ruins side-quest takes place at the first location you’ll wander across once you’ve woken up on the beach. Further, this is where you’ll find Shadowheart if you’ve not freed her from the Pod on the mind-flayer ship. Moving on with the quest, you’ll find a teleport waypoint leading to a locked door you’ll need to get through. To get through the locked door, navigate the wreckage to the temple on the cliff.

Upon getting into the temple on the cliff, you’ll have to fight off a bunch of enemies that guard the Crypt, following which you’ll be required to fight them off. As soon as you’re done with the same, you’ll find yourself having to fight another set of enemies- Skeletons, get through them as well, and eventually, you’ll have the option of opening a sarcophagus to meet Withers, who will then permanently join your camp! Upon the joining of Withers, you’ll be able to change/switch between classes as you wish.

If you’ve left this side-quest for a longer period, Withers will automatically show up at your camp, which messes a bit with the game’s ability to re-run the whole thing and get you Withers through the quest. Don’t worry, though, as there’s an easy fix. Here’s what you’ve got to do!-

  • If Withers is already at your camp, make sure that you’ve at least interacted with him once, and once you’ve done that, head to the location for the quest and follow until you reach the Sarcophagus.
  • Once there, you’ll find that the Sarcophagus is empty, and this is because Withers is now at your camp to progress through this; all you need to do is to read the Plaque that’ll be present next to the Sarcophagus.
  • Once you’ve done that, return to Withers at your camp to find a new conversation option available when you interact with him; talk to Withers about the same, and the quest will automatically complete.

No matter what way you do the quest, you won’t get different rewards or XP, so that’s one thing that you do not need to worry about; finally, you’ll have unlocked the ability to Respec once you’re done with the quest and that’s the only application of the quest!

That’s everything there is to know about how you could fix the Explore the Ruins bug in Baldur’s Gate 3.
