Elden Ring Save File and Config File Location

Elden Ring does have some bugs, fps issues and Lag, at the moment. But FromSoftware is working on a patch, and it should be released soon. Two of the most common technical items that one might need to look for while playing the game are Save and Configuration files. However, finding these files is not an easy task and one has to have a good knowledge of navigating PC drives to locate them. This guide will help you locate your Elden Ring Save and Config (or Configuration) file location in the PC where you have installed your game.

Elden Ring Save File Location

Here is where the Elden Ring Save files are located by default:

  • C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing\[Folder with 17-digit number]

You will notice two files inside the folder. ER0000.sl2 and ER0000.sl2.bak. These two are your save files. If you cannot find the Appdata folder, look for the steps to open it below.

Elden Ring Config File Location

Here is the default location of the Elden Ring Config file:

  • C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing\

If you cannot find the Appdata folder, look for the steps to open it below. The configuration file is called “GraphicsConfig”. It is an XML file. You can edit this file with Notepad or any other text editor application. You can edit your Video Settings directly from here. Not only that, but you can also input any custom resolution of your choice in this file.

Note: Although the Config file is editable, we strongly suggest that you don’t try to edit it, unless of course you are familiar with the Config file coding and are absolutely confident that whatever changes you do will not cause the game to break.

How to find the AppData folder

If the AppData folder is hidden for you, here is how to make it visible:

  1. Open any folder on your PC. It can be a new folder or an existing folder.
  2. Click on the View option at the top of the folder window
  3. There you will find a setting called “Hidden items”
  4. Check the box beside it

Now you can go back to C:\Users\Your username. And there you will find the AppData folder.

So, that is all on “Elden Ring Save File and Config File Location”. For more Elden Ring guides, keep an eye on Frondtech. We will be covering every single technical issue of the game on the launch day. Good luck!
