Twitch Buffering Too Much – How To Disable Low Latency Mode On Twitch

We all know that the problem of buffering has always been a part of Twitch. The buffering is quite frequent on Twitch when compared to YouTube or other streaming platforms. The reason for this is, Twitch allows very high quality and lossless livestreams and most of them plays at very low latency. As a result a lot of viewers with mediocre internet connections are left with no choice but to accept it.

To tackle this problem, Twitch.tv has introduced a new option where you can disable the Low Latency mode. You won’t notice a drastic difference after turning off the Low Latency mode but it kind of gets the job done. But you would notice some stream delay as well. Here is how to disable low latency mode to reduce buffering on Twitch:

  • Open a random livestream, any livestream will do

  • Click on the settings or gear icon located on the bottom left of the player

  • Click on Advanced

  • Then click on Low Latency, if it shows a tick mark, to turn it off
