The all-new Plague Tale Requiem is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment. The game’s story flows through two siblings, Amicia and Hugo de Rune, who embarks on an epic journey in the South of France to find a cure for Hugo’s blood disease. They will also have to save themselves from the French Soldiers and the rats spreading the Black Plague.
It is the sequel to the 2019 title, A Plague Tale: Innocence. The new Tale, called the Requiem, starts from where The Plague Tale: Innocence concluded. The game was released for Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S in October 2022.
The Plague Tale Requiem features a lot of adventures that are, most of the time, hidden adventures and puzzles that are very rewarding. One such puzzle is the Windmill Puzzle that you will encounter. This is one of the most unique and complicated puzzles you will face in the game. It will involve going around four islands that have four windmills. But it can be worth it if you take your time. Plus, you will be able to get the Amicia De Rune which is a nifty Bracer.

How to solve Windmill Puzzle in A Plague Tale Requiem
Once you reach the Tales and Revelations, i.e., Chapter 9, you will be free to explore a large part of the island. This is supposedly the most significant piece of open map that you can roam around out of all the chapters in the game, mainly because of the Windmills.
The Windmill puzzle is a puzzle that connects four giant windmills, which can be turned on or off so that you can access the interiors. Your main aim is to find the right combination of the already active windmills, which will open up a secret message just behind the Windmills between the second and the third windmill if you are standing facing the flower beds. If you are confused, check the door markings on each windmill as a reference I, II, III, and IV.
Although it is not required anymore as you are reading our guide, you will find stones numbered I, II, III and IV if you look around. These numbers refer to the Windmills, and if you notice carefully, the I and II Windmills are marked with the Windmill symbol, meaning they will be deactivated. The III and IV do not have the Windmill symbol, which means they should be kept activated.
Windmills I and II should be deactivated, and Windmills III and IV should be kept activated. Follow these steps to turn on and turn off the Windmills quickly.
- Get to the door of Windmill I, and after getting parts deactivate the Windmill.
- After deactivating the first windmill, head to Windmill 2, and you need to pull down a rope to get a place to jump on.
- Deactivate the Windmill II and head back on the ground.
- Go to Windmill III and find a cart you can push forward. There will be a small space where you can ask Hugo to crawl through and open a door.
- Remember that Windmill 3 should be kept on. Double-check and get back to the ground.
- After that, head over to the last Windmill. You will have to crawl from under the cart. You will find a ladder that you can use to go up.
- There will be a window from where you will see a lock on the other side of the door. Use your sling to destroy the lock.
- Get inside the Windmill IV and activate it.
As soon as you do it, you can hear a loud noise, almost like an earthquake. Afterwards, head back to the open passage, where you will find the map inscribed on the wall. Once you open up the secret passage, you will be able to find a hidden treasure that the smugglers store. You can upgrade your weapons, equipment and tools here and get the Amicia Bracer, a unique item you will find.
It is not a cosmetic item, and this bracer will help you recover Amicia’s faster from the different enemy attacks. However, it doesn’t mean that you are entirely invulnerable, but it still helps when hordes of enemies attack you.
