Can we skip the intro video?
Yes, you can skip the videos, to give you a straightforward answer. It’s also understandable considering the movie plays every time the game is started. And it just shows a huge Xbox Game Studios logo, and a 343 Industries animated logo. Worst of all, there is no in-game option to bypass them. This is extremely aggravating since we feel compelled to observe them at all times.
The intros and the brand new, shiny features only look good for the first few days. A player, who has invested close to a thousand hours in the game, doesn’t care about them. He/She is trying to launch the game, and join his/her lobby as fast as possible. Games should always include a button to skip intro videos. The intro of Halo Infinite is still of short duration. Some games have intros, that literally play for like a minute or two.
How to skip the intro video
Well, since 343 didn’t bother to provide any simple or straightforward method to skip the intro, I had no other choice but to fiddle with the files in the installation directory. Fortunately, I did find a solution. If you are a Steam user, here is what you need to do
- Go to the location where you have installed Halo Infinite
- The default location for every Steam user should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Halo Infinite
- If you have installed Halo Infinite in a different drive, and you are not sure about the exact location, Launch Steam
- Go to your Steam Library
- Select Halo Infinite
- Click on the Manage Button > Manage > Browse local files
- The Halo Infinite should open in front of you
- Inside the folder, you will notice the ‘videos’ folder
- Open it, and delete the into.mp4 video (Do not forget to make a backup before that. Just make a copy of the file)
You might encounter an error, when you start the game for the first time after deleting the file. Run the game again, and everything should start working.
And, that is how you get rid of the intro video in Halo Infinite. Unfortunately, you are an Xbox app user, then this might not be possible. You see, the games that you download via the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app, get installed in a folder named “WindowsApps”. The problem is, you cannot open this folder directly. You need to do plenty of tweaks, and change certain permissions, in order to gain access to that folder.
Sadly, I cannot recommend that, because somebody might end up bricking something else in the process. There are plenty of videos on YouTube, on how to open the “WindowsApps” folder. You can watch them, and try it the steps, at your own risk.
