How to get and breed Chickens in Slime Rancher 2

A first-person life simulation adventure video game, Slime Rancher is a sequel to the award-winning original Slime Rancher that has a fanbase of more than 15 million worldwide.

Here, Beatrix LeBeau journeys to Rainbow island, a land that is filled with various ancient technology and natural resources. The whole concept is to build farms with a range of wiggling slimes to discover.

These farms that you build can either be of slimes or of regular wildlife. Out of many, one of the animals that you can keep at your farm is chicken. The following guide thus helps explain how to breed these chickens and start your own chicken farm.

How to get Chickens in Slime Rancher 2

For being able to breed, you first need to find Roostro. It can either be found in random places or will be spawned from the baby chicks (Chickadoos) which can be found near a few nests.

However, you need to keep in mind the fact that Roostros spawn at irregular intervals and are not easily locatable.

After finding the Roostro, you need to guide it to the base where it is supposed to breed. It is to note that you can find chickens in places like the Conservatory or in the Rainbow Fields near the eastern direction.

How to breed the chickens

All you need to breed the chickens are:

  • An empty Ranch plot in order to construct a Coop to breed and nurture the chickens
  • 250 Newbucks to spend.

After the construction of the Coop is done, add one Hen-Hen and one Roostro to it, you could also add more. They will lay eggs that would hatch as Chickadoos. It is because Hen Hens and Roostros have a 100% probability of producing the chicks. This is advantageous to the players.

What after?

Coops may be upgraded to get more eggs laid, for better chicken health and also a higher cap. Hen Hen and Roostro will mature into Elder Hen Hen and Elder Roostro.

After that, they will not reproduce and will ultimately become useless. However, they can be used as neutral food for the Slimes or can be burned in the incinerator for the Carousel achievement. So, they are not that useless after all.

That pretty much sums up all that we had on how to get and breed Chickens in Slime Rancher 2.
