How to Counter the Blue Circle attacks in God of War Ragnarok

In God of War Ragnarok, we have Yellow Ring attacks and Red Ring attacks, which you get to see from the start of the game. But as the game progresses, there is another type of attack that comes to light. It is the Blue Ring or the Blue Circle attack. You get to see them when fighting against the Light Elves for the first time.

When you are facing the Light Elves in the game and fight them, they will start using various unique attacks. These Light Elves have a unique blue ring around themselves and can be very challenging to block if you don’t interrupt them quickly. This is a brilliant idea: to interrupt the Light Elves to prevent them from attacking and to gain an upper hand in the combat. Here is a guide about all that you need to know about countering the Blue Circle attack in God of War Ragnarok.

How to counter a Blue Circle or Blue Ring Attack in God of War Ragnarok

How to counter Blue Ring attacks in God of War Ragnarok

If and when you see a blue ring being formed around an attack from the enemy, all you should do is double-tap on the L1 button before the attack is fired off from the opponent’s side. When you do this, Kratos will interrupt this attack by charging a small distance forward with his Shield. This will stun and stop your opponent and give you some time (a few seconds) for you to begin a combo.

There are two rings – one that will be around the attack of the opponent and the second, closing on the smaller. The enemy unleashes the attack when the big circle reaches the small circle. The blue circles are very familiar to the rings of red and yellow that you have already come across, so the formation part of it is familiar.

A lot of other enemies will start using the ranged and melee attacks, too. The method, however, remains the same, and you will be required to double-tap the L1 button to prevent the attack from happening.

As previously mentioned, you will see this attack being used against you for the first time when you go against the Light Elves of Alfheim, and many distinct classes of enemies will be using it against you.

An alternate option that you have, instead of double tabbing, is to simply dodge. But if you do this, keep in mind that you will not be gaining an opening against your opponents and will have to swiftly follow up with another attack after the blue ring is all used up.

Double tapping the L1 button is, however your best method to make use of their attack to gain an opening on your opponent and also to take them down easily.
