How to Watch Match Demo in CS2

Do you miss CS: GO when you could open a tab to view your match demos, and everything was much easier?

With the release of CS2, there’s been some controversy regarding the game’s User Interface, and let us sum it all up by saying that players are not happy. However, we CS fans are known not to like change, be it the original CS 1.6 being succeeded by CS: Source or CS: GO to CS2. Valve has certainly made it a little difficult to access Match Demos. However, if you know where to look, it shouldn’t be too hard.

How to Watch Match Demo in CS2

In CS2, two ways are using which you can watch demos of your Matches. I like to term it- the easy way and the hard way. Here’s how you can access your demos using both of the options available at your disposal-

The Easy Way – In-game

How to Watch Match Demo in CS2

If you’re looking for an experience as close as it gets to the original CS: GO, you should probably access the demos through the in-game interface. This can be done by clicking the small television icon next to your home icon on the top left of your default menu. This will open up your Matches tab, where you can select “Your Ranked Competitive Matches’ and open up a demo if you want to view it instantly, or you could download it for now and watch it later.

That’s pretty much the easy way summed up. It’s a bummer that this is as easy as it gets, and if, for some reason, this doesn’t work for you the way it should, there’s another way, but buckle up as it might take you a few minutes to get on with it.

The Hard Way – GOTV

The harder way to watch your demos is through GOTV, which could be a little tricky for you to start with. Anyway, here’s how you could do the same-

  1. Head to the “games” section on your main Steam interface.
  2. Click on CS2 and then click on “My game stats”
  3. From the prompt, select personal game data.
  4. Here on, click on Premier Matches.
  5. You’ll find a bunch of matches that you’ve played here. Select the one that you’re looking to view.
  6. There on, download the GOTV Replay.
  7. Once that’s done, place the downloaded file into your CS2 game folder.

If you do it this way, it will take a bit of time if you’re doing it for the first time, but you’ll also be able to rewatch your matches using the rewind and fast-forward options available in CS: GO.

I don’t see a reason for players to download and view matches using the GOTV way, but if you don’t really have a choice, go for it! That’s everything we had on how you could view match demos in CS2. Stay tuned to us for more content on CS2 and many other games!
