Fix Overwatch 2 No Sound or Audio Bug

One of the most anticipated PvP games of 2022 is finally here. Yes, I am most definitely talking about Overwatch 2. I am pretty sure that nobody had expected just a year ago that we are on the verge of getting a new Overwatch game. I mean, it is not really a new game, but at the same time, it kind of is.

Well, I am not sure if I can call Overwatch 2 the same as Overwatch 1. Yes, the game looks more or less the same, with a couple of visual differences. But apart from that, I didn’t find the experience similar. Maybe because of the fact that Overwatch 1 has 6v6 PvP modes, unlike OW2, which has 5v5 PvP modes. It is in my opinion the biggest change.

On top of that, a collection of new playable characters and maps has been added to the roster as well. And not to forget, a brand-new mode known as Push.

Anyway, we all know how AAA releases are these days. They never ever come out without issues. Overwatch 2 has its fair share of issues as well. I have already talked about some. And now it is time to look at another one.

This time it is the “no sound” or “no audio” bug. Now, I don’t know if this qualifies as a bug. But, one thing I can assure you, it is really annoying. Audio is everything in PvP games nowadays. If you are not getting proper audio, you might as well quit the game.

A lot of users are not getting any sound or audio in Overwatch 2. This is a bug that is mainly present amount PC users, as I didn’t see a single console user report anything similar.

Now the question is, is there a fix?

How to fix No Sound or No Audio Bug in Overwatch 2

The good news is, that there is definitely a fix for this issue, and many OW2 players have confirmed that it works. Here is what you need to do.

  1. Close Overwatch 2 if you are running it at the moment.
  2. Locate the ‘Sound’ icon in the bottom right of your screen.
  3. Right-click on it
  4. Now click on ‘Sounds’
  5. The Sound Control Panel window will open up.
  6. Click on the ‘Playback’ tab
  7. Disable every single playback device that isn’t your headphones or speakers, and the reason for that is, a lot of your peripherals nowadays, come with an in-built speaker. For example, your monitors, your controllers, etc. Here is what my control panel looks like:

  8. Only the top audio output is of my use. The rest are useless.
  9. Now, if you do not disable them, the game might randomly switch to one of these useless audio outputs.
  10. Therefore, disable everything that you don’t use.
  11. Start the game again, and you should get your sound back

Let me tell you what is happening here, this bug is mainly happening to people who got multiple devices plugged into their PC.

I myself have faced this bug, actually. I had my PS5 controller plugged in and for some reason my system what counting it as a pair of headsets. So Overwatch 2 randomly started spitting sound from controller speakers.

I was scratching my head for almost 2 hours until I found the fix. So make sure that you have selected the accurate sound output.

If this doesn’t do the job for you, then Blizzard has a bunch of steps to troubleshoot audio in your games. You can find them here.
