Cyberpunk 2077 – Crafting Bug – How to fix

It looks like a lot of players are experiencing the “Crafting Bug” in Cyberpunk 2077. Here is how to fix it.

The Crafting Bug is not letting Players Upgrade items in Cyberpunk 2077

What is this bug all about?

It has been almost two weeks since Cyberpunk 2077 got released and I have to say, this is probably one of roughest launches I have ever seen in my life. I really don’t want to go into the details again. Because I am pretty sure the whole world knows at this point, that what is going on.

The game already has a lot of bugs and there are more popping up every day. But I am specifically talking about the Crafting bug here. According to the posts on the CDPR Forums on this topic, there is a Crafting bug in Cyberpunk 2077 that is stopping players from upgrading their weapons or item. Instead of the upgrade option they are getting an error code that says “Reach level {int_0} to upgrade this item“.

Here is a CDPR Forum user called /Selestrielle showing what it looks like when the bug happens:

Crafting bug (reach level {int_0})

Is it just me, or does anyone else run into this bug, that you cannot see which lvl you need to get in order to upgare some items?

cyberpunk 2077 - crafting bug - reach level int_0 to upgrade this item

There are a lot of comments from others players who are experiencing the same issue on the post. Here is one from Forum user /majormashup:

Hey,

I’ve got the same issue. First seen after running today’s update. Additionally after a certain amount of upgrades certain legendaries stop being visible in the upgrade tab (the overwatch as an example). I’ve not got level 50 yet so there should still be upgrades left, right?

Validating my game cache has made no difference.

I am not sure what CDPR meant when they said that the Patch 1.05 will address all the small issues that Cyberpunk has. It looks like they were definitely not talking about “issues” like these. I mean, it has already been more than 2 weeks.

How to fix the Crafting Bug?

The good thing is, this is not really a game breaking bug. This bug mainly pops up on those items that you don’t meet the requirements of. And you cannot use them at your current level. It can sometimes happen for items that you can use though. But that is quite uncommon. A lot of users have managed to fix this bug via the good old file verification method. So try that first. Here is how to do it:

GOG

  1. Launch GOG GALAXY and log in with your GOG.com account.
  2. Choose the game from ‘Owned games’ tab
  3. Click ‘Customize’ button (to the right of “Play” button)
  4. Manage installation
  5. Verify / Repair

Steam

  1. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu
  2. Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game cache…” button
  3. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes

Epic Games

  1. In the Library section, navigate to the game and click on the three dots
  2. Click Verify in the drop-down list
  3. It may take a few minutes to verify all the files.

If the verification method doesn’t work for you then you can simply level up until you meet the level requirements of the item. The the error message would disappear and the upgrade option would appear. In fact, the user who posted about this bug in the first place, later commented :

Confirming that leveling up solved the issue for every one of the 22 items I mentioned earlier. Hoping I don’t get more buggy items now.

So this is one of those bugs that you can easily overlook. Still, not acceptable from CDPR though. This is something that will come up every time we talk about the company. If the fix ends up working for you, please let everybody know in the comment section below.
