The system requirements for this game are really high if you ask me. You need a GTX 960 4GB to run the game on 1080p at 30 FPS, that too at the lowest possible settings. And a whopping 16GB of RAM, along with a RTX 2060 to enjoy the game at 60 FPS on 1920×1080 resolution. So, despite not being a AAA title, Xuan-Yuan Sword 7 is indeed a really demanding game.

Update your drivers

Here are the links to the latest drivers for AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. They might not be specifically optimized for Xuan-Yuan Sword VII, but it is recommended to have the updated ones. Majority of the crashing issues in games are caused by video driver. So get the new ones:

Turn of Nvidia GFE Overlay (For Nvidia users)

I am not sure that you have noticed or not, but there are a lot of Nvidia services that would pop up whenever you turn on the Nvidia In-Game Overlay. And it makes sense as there are a lot of features and you get from GFE. You won’t realize until you check properly that there are a lot of these services and though individually they are consuming very little percentage of your CPU, when you combine them it is a hefty chunk. So try turning it off.

Preferred Graphics Processor (For Nvidia Laptop users)

If your laptop features a Nvidia graphics card inside then you need to make sure your laptop is using that instead of the low powered integrated one.

  1. Just open Nvidia Control Panel

  1. Open Windows Settings

Close all overclocking applications

If Xuan-Yuan Sword VII is freezing a lot for you then chances are it is being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background. A lot of games have been suffering from this issue lately due to applications like MSI Afterburner. So it is best to stay on the safe side and run your graphics card on default speeds.
