Watch Dogs Legion | How to enable Ray Tracing or RTX

Wondering how to turn on RTX or Ray Tracing in Watch Dogs Legion? Here is how to do it.

Watch Dogs Legion | How to enable Ray Tracing or RTX

Does the Watch Dogs Legion use Ray Tracing?

Ubisoft has been quite vocal about Ray Tracing in Watch Dogs Legion since the announcement of the game. They have been telling from the very beginning how the RTX feature would make the game look completely different. I don’t think I agree to that though. I have played the game with Ray Traced Reflections enabled and I didn’t find anything phenomenal. To each their own I guess.

Here is how the game looks with Ray Tracing on:

How to turn on RTX

Here is how to enable Ray Tracing in Watch Dogs Legion:

  1. Launch Watch Dogs Legion via Ubisoft Connect or Epic Games Launcher
  2. Go to Options > Video
  3. Click on the Quality tab from top
  4. Set DirectX to 12 (DirectX 11 does not support Ray Tracing)
  5. Now scroll all the way to the bottom of the list
  6. Turn on Ray Traced Reflections

And that is all you need to do.

Remember one thing, Ray Tracing on Watch Dogs Legion is extremely demanding. Unless you have a RTX 2060 Super or something better, do not turn on RTX. The frame rates would drop below the ground. Lowering the other settings won’t help as well. Here are the system requirements for Ray Tracing in Watch Dogs Legion:

High Settings – 1080p

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
  • VRAM: 8 GB
  • RAM: 16 GB (Dual-channel setup)
  • Storage Space: 45 GB
  • Operating System: Windows 10 (x64)

Ultra Settings – 4K

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
  • VRAM: 11 GB
  • RAM: 16 GB (Dual-channel setup)
  • Storage Space: 45GB (+20 GB HD Textures Pack)
  • Operating System: Windows 10 (x64)
