V Rising is Crashing and Won’t Launch – How to fix

V Rising Won’t Launch and Crashing – Stunlock Studios’ V Rising is one of those indie titles that shows that you do not need a huge budget to make a successful game. Even in its Early Access, the game is doing extremely well so far. It has already around 70,000 concurrent players, and the count is only increasing every minute.

It is a great survival title, with a little twist. And I am pretty sure that people who open-world survival games, would enjoy this as well.

But as we all know, PC games are never perfect nowadays. Most of them come filled with bugs and errors when they launch. I guess we could say the same for V Rising. This Vampire Survival title is causing crashing and launching issues for many players.

PC Players in V Rising are facing issues like crashing, launch issues, and various other errors. The good news is, there are already a couple of fixes that have been confirmed to be working by some V Rising players. Let’s check them out.

V Rising Crashing fix

V Rising is crashing for some users. Here are the things you can do to fix it:

Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues. This should be an obvious step by now. The newer the drivers are, the better will be their compatibility.

There is a chance that the random crashes in V Rising are being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background. A lot of games have been suffering from crashes lately due to applications like Rivatuner Statistics or MSI Afterburner. So it is best to stay on the safe side and run your graphics card on default speeds.

There is a high chance that the game is crashing because it is causing your GPU to overheat. I have already seen plenty of posts where V Rising is actually causing the PCs of certain users to shut down. Try limiting the FPS of the game to 60. There is a huge post regarding this. Check it out here.

Trying lowering the settings of the game to the lowest possible preset, and turning V-sync On. This game requires a Ryzen 5 5600x and a 1070 Ti to run at 1080p 60fps. So by no means, this is a light game.

You can try installing the latest version of Visual C++ redistributable, as there’s a chance it hasn’t been installed correctly, and the game is crashing constantly due to that. This will also fix errors like “vcruntime140_1.dll missing” or “MSVCP140.dll was not found”.

V Rising Won’t Launch fix

Forget crashing, V Rising won’t even launch for some users at all. Here are the things you can do to fix it:

The launching/starting failure could be due to some corrupted files in the directory. You can fix that by simply verifying the game via Steam to check whether your system is missing any files that might be causing the game to crash or freeze:

  • Go to your Steam Library
  • Right-click on V Rising
  • Select Properties
  • Click on the Local Files tab
  • Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files

How to verify V Rising on Steam

In some cases, the .exe file of V Rising might be getting silently quarantined by some antivirus software, preventing the game from launching. In that case, you might need to disable the Real-Time Scanning function or Real-Time Protection function of your Anti-virus to play. If you do not want to completely disable the software, then you will have to add V Rising to the Exceptions list of your AV Software.

Another thing you can do is, avoid launching the game via Steam once and try to run the executable file or .exe of V Rising as admin, directly from the installation directory. Go to your Steam Library, and select V Rising. Click on the Settings or Gear icon on the right side of Steam. Now, select Manage > Browse Local File. This will take you to the installation folder of V Rising. From there, right-Click on the VRising.exe file > Go to Compatibility tab > Check “Run this program as an administrator”. And that is all you need to do.

Finally, if none of the fixes mentioned above work for you, then you have no other choice but to re-install the game. So try doing a fresh installation.

That is all I have for you at the moment. I am keeping an eye on the forums, and I will update this article with more fixes, as soon as they start arriving. Click here to visit the Steam discussions page of V Rising, to see what others have to say regarding this issue. You have to remember one thing. V Rising is still in Early Access. Give Stunlock Studios some time. And I am pretty sure that they will turn this game into a huge success,
