The Medium is finally here and, it has doing quite well so far. Yes the launch was not as huge as Cyberpunk or AC Valhalla. But then again, not every one needs to be.
Now there is no denying that The Medium is an extremely demanding game. It is probably one of the most demanding titles I have seen in my entire career. I mean, you need to have something like a RTX 2060 or a Radeon RX 5600 XT to play this game at 1080p 60 FPS, that too at medium settings. Still, constant 60 FPS is not guaranteed. So the graphics settings desperately need some tweaking.
Tweaking in-game graphics or video settings not only gives you a smoother experience but also gets rid of performance issues. So lets see if it is possible to make The Medium run for people with medium end hardware by tweaking the in-game video or graphics settings.

Normally, I don’t like testing games on medium-high end graphics cards. I try to stick with cards like 1050 ti, RX 570 and 1650 Super. But I had to make an exception here. I did try the game on a 1050 ti and, 9 out of 10 times the game didn’t even start. So I had no other choice but to test it on a RTX 2060.

Bloober Team needs to do some serious optimization to The Medium, if they want more people to play this game. This game struggles even on a RTX 2060. Being a 144hz user myself, I find playing games at lower than 60 FPS very uncomfortable. That is exactly what happened with The Medium. I couldn’t play this game more than 10 minutes, as I was starting to feel a little dizzy.
I don’t understand why these developers don’t realize that not every gamer is sitting with a RTX 2080 or a RX 5700 XT. According to the latest Steam Hardware Survey, the majority of the users are still on cards like GTX 1060 or 1050 ti.
If you go to the Steam Page of The Medium, you will hardly see more than 2000 players online playing the game. Thousands of users ended up refunding the game, after trying it for probably like 30 minutes. And this really upsets me because I love developers that go for fresh ideas when making games. Instead of making RPGs with overused mechanics and slapping a ton of microtransactions in them. Hopefully The Medium will get better eventually. Till then, I cannot recommend this to low-end users.
