The cycle frontier won’t launch and crashing – After years of waiting, players can now finally try the full version of The Cycle Frontier. A lot of changes and adjustments have been brought to the game. I remember trying the game almost a year ago, and I remember it being quite average. But, I have to say, the game has improved a lot since then.
The only problem is, that the full release has also brought some issues for people, who have been playing this game for a long time. Suddenly, either The Cycle Frontier wonโt launch for them, or the game is constantly crashing. This is mainly happening for Steam users, as I didn’t notice a lot of chatter regarding this from the people who are playing the game on Epic Games Launcher.
Anyway, these sorts of issues are quite common, nowadays. Especially with online titles. So, I decided to pile a bunch of fixes, that have been confirmed to be working, by the community, and consolidate them.
Fix The Cycle Frontier Won’t Launch and Crashing at Startup
Disable Steam Input and Steam Overlay for The Cycle Frontier
The Steam Overlay is recently causing problems in a lot of games. Try turning it off.
- Go to your Steam Library
- Right-click on The Cycle Frontier
- Select Properties
- Under the General tab, uncheck the box next to “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”
A lot of people have managed to fix the launch issue by just turning off the Steam Input Per-Game setting. Here is how to do it:
- Launch Steam
- Go to your Library
- Right-Click on The Cycle Frontier
- Select Controller
- Set โOVERRIDE FOR THE CYCLE: FRONTIERโ to โDisable Steam Inputโ
- Try launching the game again
Run the game in Windowed Mode
If the game started crashing for you after you set your Display Mode to Fullscreen, then you need to force the game to launch in Windowed Fullscreen Mode. Here is what you need to do:
- Typeย %LOCALAPPDATA% on your Windows search bar, and open the %LOCALAPPDATA% folder
- Inside it, look for the folder called “Prospect”
- Open the folder, and go to Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor
- Inside the WindowsNoEditor folder, you will notice a file called “GameUserSettings”
- Open it using any text editor
- Now “FullscreenMode=0” to “FullscreenMode=1”
- Save the changes
- Now try launching the game
Disable DirectX 12
The Cycle Frontier is crashing on DirectX 12 for a lot of users. Check out this post from a steam user:
DX12 CrashesMy game crashes on DX12. DX11 runs perfect only with a bit less FPS. 12900K + 3090Anyone else? It seems to be a patern with UE4 and DX12 in some last few games

Select the correct rendering device
Inside the video settings menu, you will notice a setting called “Selected Rendering Device”. Click on it, and select your dedicated GPU, instead of leaving it on “Default”.
Turn off Muti Threaded Rendering
The video settings menu in The Cycle Frontier has another setting that is causing crashes for some people. It is called “Enable Multi Threaded Rendering”. This setting doesn’t seem to be working well on a lot of processors. AMD processors to be more precise. Try turning it off, and restart the game after that.
Add The Cycle Frontier in the Exceptions list of your Anti-virus on Windows Defender
Check whether your Anti-virus software is blocking The Cycle Frontier or not. The executable file of The Cycle Frontier may be getting silently quarantined by some antivirus software, preventing the game from launching. Therefore, you may need to disable Real-Time Scanning function or Real-Time Protection function of your Anti-virus to play. If you do not want to completely disable the software, then you will have to add the .exe of The Cycle Frontier on the Exceptions list of your AV Software.
If you don’t know how to find the executable file, here is how:
- Open Steam and go to your Steam Library.
- Click on The Cycle Frontier.
- Click on the Settings icon located on the right-side of The Cycle Frontier page in your Library.
- Select > Manage > Browse local files.
- Now open Prospect > Binaries > Win64
- Inside the Win64 folder, you will notice a file called “Prospect-Win64-Shipping”.
- That is the executable file of The Cycle Frontier.
Now just add this file to the exception list of Windows Defender or the Anti-virus software you are using.
Close applications like Afterburner and Rivatuner Statistics
A lot of games have shown conflict with Rivatuner and Afterburner in the past. The reason The Cycle Frontier is crashing at startup might be solely because you have these applications running in the background.
So it is better to close these types of applications, as they might be conflicting with BattlEye Launcher. Also, set your GPU back to its default clock speeds, if you have it overclocked, at the moment.
Update your GPU drivers
This is something that is quite obvious. Games these days, stop functioning well on drivers if they are too old. This is something that is under the control of the developers. That is why we keep getting updates from Nvidia and AMD quite frequently.
Tap on Start Type โdxdiagโ and press the Enter key. If you go to โDisplayโ it will show you the graphics card that is used and the manufacturer.
Then visit one of the following pages to download the new driver and install it:
- Nvidia GeForce: https://www.nvidia.de/Download/index.aspx
- AMD Radeon: https://www.amd.com/en/support
Repair the damaged files
For the final step, please make sure that your game files are not damaged. If you are playing on Steam, please right-click on The Cycle Frontier in your library and then click on Properties > Local files > Verify.
Try these fixes for now, and let me know in the comment section below if they helped or not. If you manage to find another fix that actually works, you can mention that too. If you think this guide has helped you, then let us know in the comment section below. And for more The Cycle Frontier guides, keep an eye on Frondtech. Good luck!
Thatโs all folks!
