Stray No Sound or Audio Bug fix

Stray no sound fix – If you are experiencing sound issues like crackling audio, sound stutter, or desync in audio in the PC version of Stray, then you can come to the right place. A lot of reports are coming in regarding this. So don’t worry, you are not alone.

Stray No Sound or Audio Bug fix

Stray is finally out on PC, PS5, PS4. It is a third-person 2022 adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. This is the story of a stray cat who goes looking for his family in a world populated by robots, machines, and viruses. The game was generally well received by critics.

You control a stray cat who falls into a world populated by robots and ventures to return to his family. In order to fulfill your destiny, you must solve puzzles to progress the narrative, including moving obstacles and traversing platforms.

The game seems to be doing quite well as of now. Almost 50,000 players are playing the game at the time of my writing this article. Which is quite impressive for a game of this kind.

Don’t get me wrong, Stray is an awesome game. But it is riddled with bugs, glitches, and technical errors, at the moment. Though, the people at BlueTwelve Studio, are constantly on their toes, to fix the issues, at the moment. There are some errors that need to be addressed immediately.

Anyway, In this article, I am taking a look at an error or bug in Stray, that has to be one of the annoying ones. It is the “no sound” or “no audio” bug.

So what is up with this ‘no sound’ bug? Well, It is a bug that a lot of Stray PC players are currently experiencing in the game. The bug is causing the game to go completely mute. The issue is more prominent in versions different from English. Also, some users are experiencing crackling audio in-game, and for some, the audio is just straight up stuttering and lagging.

How to Fix the No Sound or No Audio bug in Stray

  1. Right-click the speaker in your system tray (windows taskbar, lower right).
  2. Open Sound Settings.
  3. Under the Sound Tab, make sure your Output Device is the device you wish to hear the sound on.
  4. Disable every other Audio Device that is not in use. There is a bug in Windows 10 at the moment, that causes the sound output to get changed whenever a controller is plugged in.
  5. Start Stray and see if you are getting audio or not.

Make sure that you have Spatial Sound or Windows Sonic off. Windows Sonic is a bit buggy at the moment. Wireless users can try using headphones with 3.5 mm jack. I myself have faced lots of audio issues while playing games with my Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, which basically are bluetooth wireless headphones.

I cannot tell you for certain that what I am suggesting will fix the issue but since this has worked for me quite a few times, I would advise you to use a pair of wired headphones with 3.5 mm jack.

The problem with Stray is that its setting menu is lacking a lot of vital options. The Audio Settings menu literally has 3 settings: Master Volume, Music Volume, and Effects Volume. So there is no way to know which audio output the game is using for you.

Stray Audio Stutter or Crackling sound fix

So it looks like some PC users are experiencing a bug where the audio or sound in Stray is stuttering heavily. If you are on a PC, to fix the stuttering all you have to do is go back to the desktop (close the game completely) then head to your audio settings. Set whatever you are using (Headphones, speakers etc.) to the main audio device and re-launch the game. This fixes the issue instantly.

This is the only working fix that I know of, at the moment. If you know a different fix, let everybody know in the comment section. Also, many websites will ask you to reinstall drivers. Do not do that! If there is an issue with your audio driver, your whole PC will get affected, and not only Stray.
