Can you system handle Serious Sam 4?

Is your PC capable enough to run Serious Sam 4 smoothly? The first thing you need to check, before you go ahead and try the fixes below, is whether the specifications of your PC are somewhat identical to the system requirements of Serious Sam 4. Here are the requirements:

  • Minimum:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    Processor: 4-core CPU @ 2.5 GHz
    Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 780/970/1050 or AMD Radeon 7950/280/470 (3 GB VRAM)
    DirectX: Version 11
    Storage: 42 GB available space
Additional Notes: Requirements are based on 720p rendering resolution at 30 FPS
  • Recommended:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    OS: Windows 10 64-bit (1909)
    Processor: 8-core CPU @ 3.3 GHz
    Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 1080/2060 or AMD Radeon Vega64/5700 (8 GB VRAM)
    DirectX: Version 11
    Storage: 42 GB available space

Now I don’t know how accurate these system requirements are, but in order to even run this game, that too at a resolution of 720p at 30 FPS, you need a GTX 970 and 8GB of RAM. I am not even going to talk about the recommended requirements. Yes the specifications do seem high but there are also supposed to be “thousands” of enemies on screen so it makes sense I guess.

Nvidia GeForce Experience Overlay (For Nvidia users)

Recently I have noticed that a lot of Nvidia services would pop up whenever I turn on the Nvidia In-Game Overlay. You won’t realize until you check properly that there are a lot of these services and though individually they are consuming very little percentage of your CPU, when you combine them it is a hefty chunk. So try turning it off.

  1. Launch Nvidia Geforce Experience
  2. Click on the Settings icon on the top right corner
  3. Select the General Tab
  4. Turn of In-Game Overlay
  5. Restart your system

Close all extra background applications and services

Users end up installing a lot of applications gradually. Multiple launchers and utilities that keep on running in the background. A lot of you might not have any idea, but there are many applications that often tend to eat up a huge chunk of RAM and CPU without you knowing anything about it.  As a result they start witnessing stutters and freezes in almost every game.

So check whether you have useless applications running in the background or not. You can also decide which applications you want to automatically start when you boot your system and prevent the useless ones from starting.

  • Open Task Manager
  • Click on the Startup tab
  • Keep the applications that are important, Enabled
  • Disable the rest
