Serious Sam 4 graphics settings – Serious Sam 4 has finally made it’s way to the launch day. A lot of people were waiting for this release since there hasn’t been any Serious Sam game in the the past 9 years.

Serious Sam 4, just like Serious Sam 3, is an extremely demanding title and even with the latest drivers there is not much you can do if you have a low end gaming rig. So lets see if it is possible to make this game run for people with low end graphics cards by tweaking the in-game video or graphics settings.

Our Test System Specifications

Here are the full specifications of our rig:

  • CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • GPU : Zotac RTX 2060
  • RAM : 16GB DDR4 2666mhz
  • OS : Windows 10 64-bit (Version 2004)
  • HDD : WD 1 TB 7200 rpm
  • Monitor Resolution : 1920×1080
  • Driver : GeForce Game Ready Driver v456.38 (Release date : 09/17/2020)

The hardware listed on the official system requirements of Serious Sam 4 are all over the place. There is no point testing this game on a low-end graphics card because a GTX 970 will only get you 30 FPS, that too on 720p resolution. Initially, I tried to test the game on a GTX 1050 2GB. But the game didn’t even launch on that system. Now I am not sure if it was due to the graphics card or a bug.

The recommended graphics cards are nVidia GeForce 1080/2060 or AMD Radeon Vega64/5700 (8 GB VRAM). I did have a RTX 2060 lying around so decided to give that one a go. The system requirements don’t have any particular processor mentioned, so I decided to stick to my trusty AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. Normally, I avoid testing games on high-end systems, but we didn’t have a choice here.

We are testing the game on multiple APIs, so the test is taking a bit longer than usual. Just to let you know, Serious Sam 4 still needs a lot of optimization. The game currently suffers with a lot of performance issues. Hopefully things will get better as more and more updates start coming in. But at the current state, this title could prove to be unplayable for low or medium-end users.
