Scarlet Nexus download is stuck for many Steam users
It isn’t a secret that Scarlet Nexus is one of the most anticipated titles of 2021. And now that it is out, every RPG fan is excited to play it.
But I guess, the launch is probably not treating every PC player equally. It looks like, a lot of people who bought Scarlet Nexus on Steam are facing a problem where, either the download of the game is getting stuck after a certain point or the download is extremely slow.
No matter what they do, the installation bar is reluctant to move or make any sort of progress. This problem, so far, looks exclusive to Steam users, as people who have bought the game on consoles haven’t reported anything of this sort. People have been trying all types of things. Like pausing and then resuming the download, restarting the download, restarting Steam, restarting their PC, etc. But nothing seems to help.
Now the question is, is this some sort of bug or glitch? Does this require any specific fix? The answer is no.
Why is the download stuck, and is there a fix?
Actually the truth is, this is neither a bug, nor a glitch. If you go and look at the download folder of Steam, you will notice that there is nothing over there. Steam will actually download the Scarlet Nexus first. And once the downloading is completed, the unpacking will take place. Let me explain. The thing is, when Steam is showing that Scarlet Nexus is still being downloaded even after quite a while, that is not what actually is happening. This is as issue the Valve needs to address, as Steam shows zero info regarding this. Once could easily think that his/her download is stuck.
After the download is complete, Steam will unpack the game so that the installation could take place. And then there are those obvious basic installations that are required to run a game. Like the C++ Redistributable and the latest DirectX, that require some time to be fully installed as well. These issues don’t really happen with games that allow users to pre-load them fully 2-3 days prior to the launch. Unfortunately, the pre-load size of Scarlet Nexus was something around 15.7 GB.
The file size of Scarlet Nexus is close to 50 GB. Which means it is quite big in size. So all you have to do is wait for a while. The process did not take much long for me as I am using a WD Black NVMe SSD that has Read and Write speeds up to 3100 MB/s and 1600 MB/s respectively. But for normal HDD users, even if they have a 7200 RPM one, the entire installation process is going to take some time. And speeding up this procedure is not something that you can do.
