Resident Evil 4 Remake Save and Config File Location

One of the most anticipated games of 2023, Resident Evil 4 Remake, has finally been released. With over 100k players playing the game on Steam, it is safe to say that the game is a hit.

Two of the most common technical items that one might need to look for while playing the game are Save and Configuration files. However, finding these files is not an easy task, and one has to have a good knowledge of navigating PC drives to locate them. The good news is that we have already done the hard work for you. This guide will help you locate your RE4 Ramake Save and Config (or Configuration) file location on your PC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Save and Config File Location

RE4 Remake Save File Location

Here is where the Resident Evil 4 Remake Save files are located by default:

  • <Steam folder>/userdata/<your Steam user id>/2050650/win64_save

“2050650” is the game ID of RE4 Remake.

Now, by default, your Steam Folder is supposed to be located in this location:

  • 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

Unless you have installed Steam on a different drive, if you have your “steamapps” folder in a different drive, then also the location given above is relevant.

If you have logged in on Steam with multiple IDs, then you will notice multiple folders inside the “userdata” folder. In that case, here is how to find which one is your current Steam user ID:

  1. Go to your Steam Inventory
  2. Click on Trade Offers
  3. Now click on “Who can send me Trade Offers” from the right
  4. Scroll down and look under “Third-Party Sites”
  5. You will notice your Trade URL there
  6. The digits or numbers after “https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=” is your user ID
  7. For example: If my trade url is “https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=123456789”, then my Steam ID is 123456789
  8. Now, look for the folder that matches your user ID inside the “userdata” folder

Yes, there are other ways you can find your ID, but these are the steps that I personally use.

RE4 Remake Config File Location

Here is the default location of the Resident Evil 4 Remake Config File:

  • <Steam folder>/userdata/<your Steam user id>/2050650/win64_save

The config file is called “Local_config.ini.” The default format of the Config file is .ini. But for some reason, if there is a need for you to edit the file, then you can do that by opening it with Notepad or Wordpad.

Note: Although the Config file is editable, we strongly suggest that you don’t try to edit it unless of course, you are familiar with the Config file coding and are absolutely confident that whatever changes you do will not cause the game to break.
