Resident Evil 3 (RE3) Remake 2020 – Fix crashing, stuttering, fps drops and lag

Resident Evil 3 Remake 2020 stuttering, crashing, fps drops and lag fixResident Evil 3 is an third-person survival horror game by Capcom. It is a remastered version or remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis that was released in 1999. The game follows the survival story of Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira from a zombie apocalypse.

Resident Evil 3 2020 borrows most of its mechanics from Resident Evil 2 remake, that was released in 2019. If you have already played Resident Evil 2 remake, then you should have no problem getting used to the controls of RE3. So far, the community is really impressed with RE3. And it is all because of its immersive gameplay, and great graphics. Despite having a comparatively shorter campaign, people seem to be enjoying the game.

Resident Evil 3 does have has an online multiplayer mode. It is called Resident Evil: Resistance. In this mode, a team of four players are put against a “mastermind” who can create traps, enemies, and other hazards.

Now that the basic information about the game is out of the way, lets talk about the performance of the game on the PC platform. The 2020 Remake of Resident Evil 3 actually ran quite well on all of our systems, high-end or low-end. We did test this game on a RTX 2060 super as well as on a GTX 1050 ti. And we didn’t notice that many issues. But unfortunately this game has some. Our game did crash twice and we did experience some stuttering here and there.

One thing that you need to consider is that this game is quite a demanding title, and that is visible from the amount of people complaining about lag, fps drops, stutters, freezes, etc. That is why we decided to put up with a Resident Evil 3 Remake 2020 Performance guide that will show you some simple tweaks that you can try in order to fix the performance issues that you are having.

Make sure that your Discord settings are properly tweaked

This is something that we have experienced personally. On our personal gaming rig consisting of RTX 2060 Super, i5 8400, 16 GB 3000mhz RAM, Discord initially gave us a really tough time when we were regularly playing games like Destiny 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 and Apex Legends. Every time we used to start Discord, online games used to start lagging horribly.

So, it is recommended that you make few tweaks in order to stop Discord from reducing the performance of your system. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Launch Discord
  2. Go to User Settings
  3. Click on Voice & Video from the left sidebar
  4. Scroll down to Advanced section
  5. Disable “OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco System, Inc.”
  6. Disable “Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority”
  7. Click on Overlay from the sidebar
  8. Disable in-game overlay
  9. Click on Appearance from the left sidebar
  10. Scroll down all the way to the Advanced section
  11. Disable Hardware Acceleration
  12. Restart Discord
