Persona 5 Strikers – Game is Crashing – How to fix

A lot of Steam users are complaining that Persona 5 Strikers is crashing constantly for them. This guide will show you some steps on how to fix that issue.

Players are experiencing crashes constantly in Persona 5 Strikers PC

Persona 5 Strikers is finally here and, so far the game has had a terrific launch. You can easily tell that by looking at the reception is got from the community.

P5S is an Action-RPG from ATLUS. The game is a crossover between the Dynasty Warriors franchise and Persona 5. It features elements from both franchises, such as the real-time action combat of the former with the turn-based Persona-battling aspect of the latter.

Don’t get me wrong, Persona 5 Strikers is an awesome title. But that doesn’t take away the fact that it has it’s fair share of performance issues. This guide will show you some steps to fix the crashing issues in Persona 5 Strikers

How to fix the Crashing

Drivers are the first priority

Start by updating your graphics drivers. I get a lot of comments saying that updating drivers don’t do anything. Trust me, updating graphics drivers is one of the best practices in PC gaming.

If you are an Nvidia user then you can directly update your driver from the Geforce Experience application. You can also download the driver directly from the link below.

If you are an AMD user then you can find the latest Adrenaline driver from the link given below. Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.2.2 Optional is the version you need to download. It is an optional driver, but that shouldn’t cause any problem.

Check out the comment from Steam user /Keelut on the Persona 5 Strikers Steam discussions page, who managed to fix the crashes by just updating his driver:

If your drivers are already updated, then consider downloading a comparatively older Graphics driver. Downgrading could eliminate issues like these at times.

Windowed Mode

Try playing the game in Windowed mode. Apparently, the Full Screen and Borderless Window mode could bug out in Persona 5 Strikers sometimes. This is an issue that the developers need to fix. And you cannot do much here. Here is another comment that proves my point:

Steam File Verification Method

Every launcher nowadays offers ways to verify the game files of the games, which would repair the corrupted files that might be causing issues. Here is how to do it on Steam:

  1. Head over to your Steam Library
  2. Right-click on Persona 5 Strikers
  3. Select Properties
  4. Click on the Local Files tab
  5. Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files

Overclocking could lead to Crashing and Freezing

If by any chance you are witnessing random crashes in Persona 5 Strikers, then chances are it is being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background. A lot of games have been suffering from crashes lately due to applications like MSI Afterburner or Zotac firestorm. I have personally experienced this issue while running an overclocked RTX 2060 Super. So it is best to stay on the safe side and run your graphics card on default speeds.

Extra fixes

Try some of the fixes mentioned here.

These are all the fixes that I would recommend you try first. Yes, there are some other fixes as well. But, I couldn’t recommend them as there is no proof of them working. I am constantly keeping an eye on the Persona 5 Strikers community. And as soon as I find something that is guaranteed to work, I will post it here.

Let me tell you that Persona 5 Strikers incorporates a third party Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM.
Persona 5 Strikers - Denuvo DRM

If you don’t have any idea about what that is, then let me tell you that Denuvo is an anti-tamper technology and a digital rights management scheme that is known to protect games against piracy. It is infamous for causing horrible performance related issues in games and the problems you are experiencing with Persona 5 Strikers, might just be because of Denuvo.
