New World black screen – This guide will address the black screen issue in New World. If you are getting a black screen when you are in-game in New World, don’t worry, you are not alone.
New World – Black Screen issue – How to fix
One of the most anticipated game of 2021, New World, is finally available to the public. Not the full version, though. A closed beta. PC players who have preordered New World on Steam are eligible for receiving access to the Closed Beta, and if everything goes according to the plan, “New World Closed Beta” will appear in your Steam Game Library. The Closed Beta of New World will run from July 20 at 9:30AM PT (4:30PM UTC) to August 2 at 11:59M PT (6:59AM UTC).
Unfortunately, people have already started facing many issues and errors, right from the Closed Beta. But there is no need to panic. This is what betas are for, right? I am really happy that Amazon Games decided to release a beta, as this would help the developers get some actual feedback. And they would have enough time to fix the issues before the full version of the game releases.
Without wasting any time, let’s talk about the issue now. A lot of Steam users are facing a black screen issues in New World, and this issue is being faced by a lot of Closed Beta testers at the moment, actually. People are complaining all over the forums. And the game is showing the black screen specifically after the Character Creation screen. A short cutscene plays after the character creation is done, which then leads to a black screen. There are plenty of posts on the Steam discussions page of New World:
Black screen after character creationAnyone else?
Now the question is, can this be fixed? Let’s find out.
How to fix
Okay, let me start by saying that this is not really an error. Let me explain. You see, after you are done with the character creation, the game is supposed to spawn you in the World and the server that you have chosen. Your gameplay begins after this point. The black screen is taking place because the game is trying to find you a spot in the world or the server. If you wait long enough(5-6 minutes), the black screen should go away, and you should see a screen that looks something like this:
To sum it up, you are getting a black screen because the servers might be full, and you are put in a queue. And you would continue getting the black screen until the load on the server you have chosen, reduces. As soon as there are enough open slots for you to spawn, the black screen should go away.
I would recommend that you go to the Steam discussions page of New World Closed Beta. Look for the posts related to ‘Black Screen’, and you should get an idea. If you are experiencing a different sort of issue, you can write it down in the comment section. I will try to cover it in my next article.
