Mortal Kombat 11 (MK11) – Controller Not Working Bug – How To Fix

Mortal Kombat 11 has had a very unpleasant launch and things are only getting worse. Players are getting frustrated and as a result they are review-bombing the game on Steam. And it does make sense because MK11 is undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of 2019 and the hype surrounding it before launch was enormous. But after the game launched, fans were deeply disappointed. The game suffers from performance issues like lag, fps drops, crashes, stuttering and not to forget, plenty of bugs and glitches.

A recent bug is causing problems for players who are trying to play Mortal Kombat 11 with a controller on their PC. Fortunately, this issue is not something very big and can be fixed very easily. Here is how to fix the controller not working bug in Mortal Kombat 11:

Step 1

  • Make sure MK11 is not running

Step 2

Type %LOCALAPPDATA% on your Windows search bar or just go this location : C:\Users\’Your Username’\AppData\Local\MK11

[Note: You have to check or tick the Hidden items box otherwise the AppData folder will remain hidden]

Step 3

After opening the MK11 folder you will notice a .ini file called UserSettings.ini

Step 4

Open UserSettings.ini with any text editor

Step 5

After opening the file you will notice a line that says ‘DirectInput = on‘ just below [General]

Step 6

Change the line ‘DirectInput = on‘ to ‘DirectInput = off

Step 7

Save the changes

  • Unplug your controller
  • Launch Steam
  • Click on Settings from the Steam tab located at the top left
  • Select Controller
  • Click on General Controller Settings
  • If you are using a PlayStation controller then select PlayStation Configuration Support. If you are using a Xbox controller then check the box beside Xbox Configuration Support
  • Restart Steam
