Zinogre is a Royal Monster in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. It has a Rarity of 5, and is definitely one of the best Thunder Monsters you can find in the game. The stats on this Royal are really balanced. And I would recommend that you use it over every other Thunder Monster in the game. Zinogre is actually the second Royal Monster that you can find in the Loloska region. The other one is obviously Gammoth.

Zinogre comes with a single Riding Action, Jump. Jump is actually extremely useful, and allows you to access a lot of chests inside the Monster Dens, that otherwise would have been unobtainable. I was finally able to remove my Velocidrome from the party. I was using it only for its Jump ability. But now that I have Jump on a Royal Monster, I don’t need it anymore. Overall, Zinogre is a really awesome Monstie, and I would definitely recommend that you get it for your party.

Zinogre Location

Finding Zinogre is no big deal, to be honest. You can find Zinogre at Snowclad Mt. Lavina – Loloska Region. There are no Catavan Stands near the Zinogre’s location. So you have to spawn at the Base of Mt. Lavina Catavan Stand, and make your way to the location. The good thing is, you don’t have to specifically look for this location. Just do the ‘Pit Probe – Head to Lavina Pit’ main quest, and you should come across Zinogre. Here is the exact location of Zinogre on Mt. Lavina:

How to beat Zinogre

If you have already beaten Gammoth, then beating Zinogre should be a breeze for you. But if you have skipped Gammoth, then let me tell you, beating Zinogre is way easier than Gammoth. The battle is just like how to have experienced with Monoblos and Tigrex. Just remember the RGB rule or the Red beats Green beats Blue rule. Deal enough damage and survive. A couple of Potions and Lifesoots, and you should be good. Don’t forget to pop in a Hot Mist before you start the fight.

You don’t need specific equipments if your level is high enough. But if you really want to make the fight easier. Use a Might Charm at the Prayer Pot, and get the armor and weapons shown on the screenshot below:

How to catch Zinogre

Now, to get or catch a Gammoth, you need to make it Retreat. You won’t be able to catch it if you eliminate it completely.

Nothing crazy here. Just get some good ol’ Paintballs in your inventory. Paintball increases monster Retreat chance for 3 turns, and it is most potent on low HP monsters. One Paintball costs 200 Zenny. Bring the health bar of Zinogre down to 10-15% and throw a Paintball. Try to beat it within the next 3 turns. If everything goes according to the plan, the Zinogre should Retreat. Once it Retreats, a Monster Den should pop up nearby, marked with a green-colored Den icon on the Map. Enter the Den, look for the Nest of Zinogre, pick up the Egg and leave the Den. Now, just visit the Stables and hatch the egg. Congratulations! You now own a Zinogre! One thing I would like to add here, I had to fight Zinogre 6 times in order to make it Retreat. The first 5 times, it didn’t Retreat, even after getting hit by a Paintball every time. The sixth time though, I used 2 Paintballs, and was finally successful to make it Retreat.
