How to use the Scythe in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted

With the arrival of Season 17, the Season of the Haunted is finally available to the public. The update has brought a ton of content to the game. The last time I checked, the size of the update was around 6 GB on PC. Which is nowhere near the size of the Witch Queen. But, there are a bunch of new Exotics, a ton of new powerful Legendary weapons, new activities, a brand-new location, and most importantly, Solar 3.0.

Now, if you are a true lover of Destiny, then I am pretty sure that you had already seen the Season of the Haunted trailer, as soon as it came out. The trailer was good. Nothing spectacular. But the one thing, that stood out in the trailer, is a Hunter, wielding a Scythe. I personally would have loved it if a Titan was holding it. Don’t really care about Hunters, to be honest(XD). Anyway, I am pretty sure that every single Destiny fan got extremely hyped after seeing that.

Now that question is, how to get the Scythe and how to use it. Don’t worry, I have an answer.

How to use the Scythe in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted

Before we start, I would like to be the bearer of bad news. If you were thinking that the Scythe is actually a melee weapon in the game, like the Glaive. Then you are wrong. If you came here looking for that particular answer. Then, there you have it. You don’t have to read the article anymore. But if you still want to know how you can wield the Scythe and look like a sick Reaper, then keep on reading.

The Scythe is actually a relic in Destiny 2. To get the Scythe in Destiny 2, you will first have to head over to the Castellum, located on Moon.

Once you land inside the Castellum, you will have to start the brand-new Nightmare Containment event, by placing your Harvester artifact in the marked location.

The Nightmare Containment event will start. Now, do what you do best and eliminate whoever comes in your way. After a while, you will see two red icons move on your screen. Those icons are pointing at some Yellow Bar enemies called the “Dread Bearers”. These enemies are extremely tanky, and you will probably have to use your supers and heavy weapon to take them down.

Dread Bearer - Destiny 2

After you manage to eliminate a Dread Bearer, it will drop an item called “Core of Dread”. Press your Interact button and pick it up.

Core of Dread - Destiny 2

Take that core to the place, where you had placed your Harvester earlier. As soon as you reach the artifact, your character will automatically dunk the Core of Dread on the Harvester.

Wait for a second and two, and you will see the Scythe spawn in front of you. Press your Interact button to pick up the Scythe Relic. Now, it is time to go ham.

How to get the Scythe in Destiny 2

There is obviously a light attack that you can do with the Scythe, which is like a normal slash. And there is a heavy attack, where you slam the ground with the Scythe and deal insane damage. You will be dealing solar damage with the Relic, and your Super bar will fill up fast, as well.

Overall, I would say that if you want to complete the Nightmare Containment event quickly. Then, definitely use the Scythe when fighting Nightmare of Elykris, The Machinist. Using the Scythe and your Supers is the best way to beat Nightmare of Elykris, The Machinist.
