It also happens to be the prequel to Borderlands 3. It was launched across a variety of platforms – Windows, Xbox and PlayStation. Just like its predecessors, it’s a first-person shooter game, full of thrill and RPG elements.

In any game, you have various kinds of assists to the gamer that help them complete the different stages of the game going through several hurdles. Among the many assists that you’ll find in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, an important one is the Skeleton Key. Before we proceed to walk you through the simple steps to obtain multiple Skeleton Keys in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, let us quickly take a look at what Skeleton Keys are, especially for the ones who are absolutely new to the game.

What is the Skeleton Key in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

As mentioned above, a Skeleton Key is an assist to the gamer, to make their life a little easier while going through the game stages. As the name suggests, it’s a key that is used to open the Skeleton Chest. Skeleton Chests are basically a storehouse of good loot. If you can manage to get your hands on one, and you happen to have a Skeleton Key with you at the same time, you’ll unlock a bunch of powerful help.

Where to find the Skeleton Chest

Now finding a Skeleton Chest can be tricky, so keep your eyes wide open. Here is where you’ll find it – On your way to the Brighthoof Castle, you’ll find a statue. On the two sides of the statue you’ll find stairs going up. Look closely at the base of the statue. You’ll find a fancy chest that has decorations of golden colored skulls with crowns on their heads. That’s the Skeleton Chest and you will need a Skeleton Key to unlock it.

Now, that we have understood the importance of Skeleton Keys, let’s take a look at how we can get Skeleton Keys in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands in the first place.

How to get Skeleton Keys in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

If you have played Borderlands in the past, this shouldn’t be new to you – In Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands you can get Skeleton Keys by redeeming SHIFT codes. A SHIFT code is nothing but a 25 character code with a hyphen (‘-‘) after every 5 characters. The characters can be either letters or numbers. So, it should basically look like this: ABC12-X12DF-P6G78-ABC34-23R6F (please note that this is just an example and not an actual SHIFT code).

For every SHIFT code that you enter, you’ll receive a Skeleton Key that you can use to unlock the Skeleton Chest. But, just like most good things in life, getting SHIFT codes isn’t easy. For that, you will have to follow some accounts on Twitter and also be on the watch when these accounts announce them. First is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Twitter account (@PlayWonderlands). At the moment when I am writing this, the account already has 117k followers, that too in a matter of few days after the launch. I’m sure the number is just going to increase exponentially, if not for anything else, it’ll be for gamers looking for SHIFT codes.

The other account that you can follow is the GearboxOfficial account (@GearboxOfficial). While you do that, there’s something to keep in mind. These SHIFT codes come with expiry dates, so just validate once that the SHIFT code that you’re trying to use is still within the validity period.

Now, we come to the most interesting part. While you can wait for SHIFT codes to be announced on the Twitter handles of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and GearboxOfficial, there is another way in which you can get Skeleton Keys and you don’t need multiple SHIFT codes for that. Just using one SHIFT code and following the below-mentioned steps you’ll be able to obtain as many Skeleton Keys as you want.

How to Get Unlimited Skeleton Keys

Follow the following steps in order to obtain unlimited Skeleton Keys with one SHIFT code:

  1. Log into your Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands account
  2. Redeem a SHIFT code to activate a Skeleton Key
  3. Start the game
  4. Don’t collect the key yet from the menu (leave it in your mailbox)
  5. Now, disconnect your device from the internet
    • PC players using a wired connection will have to disconnect it from the port.
    • PC players / laptop players connected to a wi-fi network will have to disconnect it from within the device, or alternatively you can just switch off your router.
    • Xbox players can ‘Go Offline’ from the Network Settings menu.
    • PlayStation players will have to go to Network Settings and uncheck the box against the text that says, ‘Connect To The Internet’.
  6. Now, again go to your mailbox
  7. This time collect the key by clicking on ‘Accept Item’
  8. Now go back to main menu and load in again – You should be able to get the Skeleton Key again from your mailbox
  9. You can repeat these steps as many times as you want and thus get as many Skeleton Keys as you want
  10. Once you are done, quit the game, and reconnect to the internet
  11. Launch Wonderlands again, and Epic should ask you whether you want to load from your “Local Files” or “Upload to the Cloud”
  12. Choose Local Files
  13. Go in-game, and check the number of your keys in your Inventory

From the looks of it, this definitely seems to be a glitch in the game, and I am sure the developers are well aware of this, and they are planning to get it fixed in the nearest release possible. But until that happens, if you want some additional help in your quest, feel free to make use of this article.
