The game is more about completing missions while parkouring on the rooftops and chopping off zombies heads. This new Dying Light 2 game also has its very own stealth elements built in if you want a much quieter approach, and that’s where the bow and the crossbow weapon comes in.
Dying Light 2 is filled with melee weapons like hammers, machetes and axes. But since the game also has a stealth element, you can take a much more ranged and silent approach using the bow and the crossbow. You have gears which will increase your ranged stats, while some gears will increase your damage stats. There are some weapons that you can use for attacking for long distances as well, but those aren’t are as good as bows or crossbows.

If you follow the main storyline quests only, you will not be able to get the bow until you have completed the entire first half of the game, which will include places of Trinity, Houndfield, Horseshoe and the Quarry end. You have to go through 10 story missions to get the bow. After you complete the “Lets Waltz” mission, and as you enter the Downtown metro, you will find a Pipe Bow and some arrows apart from the other items as a reward from that mission. It doesn’t matter if you go with Aitor or Sophie, you will still get it.
After you complete the Lets Waltz mission, you will find more bows near Central Loop and Old Villedor. We roamed a couple of hours before the mission, but we didn’t find any bows and arrows then. Also, once you start exploring, just look into the Bandit Camps near all the Airdrops. Furthermore, look out for airdrops on the top of towers and roofs. Loot as much as you can because the more items you loot, the more in-game money you can make just by selling them to a trader.
Vendors also sometimes sell bows and arrows at the shops, so you can find these items at the Faction hubs like Fish Eye or the Bazaar. Also, make sure you check the vendors regularly in Old Villedor for bows and arrows.
During “The Shoe” story mission, you will get a new ranged weapon called the Paper Clip Bow. You will give different variants of bows in the game as you level up Aiden’s rank. One of the best things about a bow is that it doesn’t need any kind of repairs, unlike melee weapons. You can keep your favorite bow in your inventory as long as you want because it doesn’t have any durability meters.
You can also buy different arrow blueprints like Fire Arrows, Shock Arrows etc. from the Craftsmasters. Once you have purchased the arrows, collect all the necessary ingredients to craft the arrows in the crafting menu. You can also toggle between different arrow types by opening the weapon wheel while selecting the bow. Or you can also wheel up to cycle through the different arrow types that you want to use.
