How to get more FPS in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Before we get started, just know that there’s a total of three ways we’ve got for you, using which you could increase your FPS in the game. Here they are:

  • Play the game in “Docked” mode.

To play the game in docked mode basically means to connect your Nintendo Switch to its dock while it is connected to an external TV or Monitor. This allows for your Nintendo to save some processing power and redirect all of it to the processor, resulting in better/higher FPS. Further, in docked mode, the Switch would also get a constant power supply, further helping in a much stabler performance output. It’s the same as a laptop, guys!

  • Lower the in-game resolution while in Docked Mode.

Let your Switch rest and perform on stable power while you reduce the resolution of the game, causing less of a load to be put on the processor and hence a higher performance output. This would also help in case of stutters, in case your switch’s struggling. Quality falls here, though, but as the law says, performance increases!

Here’s how you can do it (step-by-step)

  1. Make sure that your Nintendo Switch is docked before you attempt this, as you can only change your resolution if it’s docked.
  2. Head onto System Settings and then TV settings
  3. Select a resolution and click on it

We highly suggest that you don’t select anything below 720p, as it severely reduces the image quality, and it probably won’t be playable then. Hence, try the game out at 720p and see if you enjoy the performance boost!

That pretty much sums up everything we had on how you could increase your FPS in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
