How to get Glass in Raft

Glass Raft – The full version of Raft or Raft 1.0 is finally available on Steam. The update has brought a ton of changes to the game. There are new destinations, new enemies, more items, voice acting, new characters, trading and so much more.

Raft throws you and your crew into an oceanic adventure. Solo or with a squad, players battle to survive a perilous journey across a vast sea. Gather debris, scavenge reefs and build your own floating home, but be wary of the man-eating sharks, and of course, there are Cluckers!

In any survival game, you’ve got to work with what you have, or what you’ll snatch. You’ll start with the most basic stuff in Raft, make new stuff with it and use it to get more stuff and expand, basically. But where does this start, and where does this end?

To quench your thirst, you’ll need drinking water, not to mention, the water you’re surrounded by is salt water, so you should be thinking about crafting a Water Purifier in Raft, the same requires a basic material to be crafted which is Glass.

Now, about Glass, one of the crafting materials you’re going to come across while playing Raft, is Glass. Now, through this article, we at Frondtech will guide you as to where you could find Glass in Raft, again, what could you possibly need it for, and finally what could come out of it.

So there’s not much to learn about this, there’s only one way to obtain glass in Raft and that is through making it yourself. That’s right, no relying on luck roaming around, no finding it in random stashes, you just gotta work for it if you want it.

How to get Glass in Raft

So, You’ll need a smelter to make Glass, you probably already have one as you need to have it from an earlier stage of the game. Just in case you don’t, to make a smelter you need:

  • 4x Plank
  • 6x Dry Brick
  • 4x Scrap
  • 6x Nail

The first thing you need to do is search for Sand. You could find the same around islands,  around the sea, particularly on ledges where corals and seaweed are plentiful.  You can quickly notice it because it’s quite different from the floor.

Once you’re at melee range, grab it with your hook. Take the items you just collected back to your raft and toss them into the smelter. Now all you need to do is ignite the smelter with the Sand into it, by using Planks, which will make 1x Glass in about a minute itself.

Why do you need glass in the first place? As mentioned earlier, you’ll need it for the Advanced Air Purifier which basically helps you deal with your thirst.

Another reason to search for the same is that you could craft Binoculars from the same, not that it has much of a use in the game but still, who doesn’t like a clear view of stuff, and finally, to craft Honey, you’ll need 1x Glass, so, quite the reasons to craft the same.
