Restart the Console:

In order to get rid of the CE-34878-0 error, the first thing that you should do is try and restart the game. In several cases this might just fix the problem, but in most situations it won’t, in which case you can refer to the points that I have mentioned below.

Update the Software of the PlayStation 4 System and the Game:

After restarting the game, if you continue to receive the CE-34878-0 error, you probably have something else not working properly. In this case, you should first verify that the software that you are using in your PlayStation System is updated. If not, first go ahead and get it updated. Then you should verify that the game that you are playing is also using the latest software and if it’s not, then get it updated too. There are a lot of cases where there is incompatibility between the system and the game software causing the problem, which is why both need to be updated first.

Following are the steps that you should follow to update the software of your PlayStation 4 system:

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the internet
  2. Go to the home screen on your PS4
  3. Choose ‘Options’ on the game you were playing
  4. Select ‘Check for Update’
  5. If there’s any update available, allow the updates to be downloaded
  6. Then select ‘Settings’ on the home screen
  7. Select ‘System Software Update’ and allow the updates to be installed
  8. Finally, restart your PS4

Try launching the game after the software update. If you continue to face the CE-34878-0 error, you may now want to try the following options:

Reinstall Original Hard Disk Drive (HDD):

  • If you ever upgraded the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) on your PlayStation 4, you would want to try re-installing the original HDD

Disable Face Recognition:

  • If you have a camera connected to your PlayStation 4, disconnect it
  • Restart the console
  • Go to home screen and select ‘Settings’
  • Choose ‘User’
  • Select ‘Login Settings’
  • Uncheck the option ‘Enable Face Recognition’

Initialize PlayStation 4:

This is as good as setting your PlayStation 4 to its factory settings. So, before proceeding with this step, please make sure that you back up all your data. Then,

  1. Go to home screen and select ‘Settings’
  2. Choose ‘Initialization’
  3. Choose ‘Initialize PS4’

Even after all these steps, if you see that your PlayStation 4 is not working, it’s time to consult the doctor as clearly home therapy isn’t working. Navigate over to PlayStation Support page and get in touch with them to explain your problem. Who knows, if you’re lucky, they might even agree to replace your device!

Please let us know if any of the steps mentioned above saved the day for you, and do check out some of our latest posts on Call of Duty Vanguard.
