How to Disable Motion Blur and Anti-aliasing in Evil Dead

Evil Dead Motion Blur – It is 2022, and we have a new Evil Dead game. Only this time, it is completely online, and even if you choose to play the single-player mode, you will need an internet connection for that. Looking at the response of people on Reddit, I would say the game is doing well. The only problem is that the PC version of Evil Dead The Game is filled with issues at the moment.

So here I am, covering another topic, that I had never imagined I would have had to do. The first one that I covered, was a bit shocking. Check it out here. This article is about an issue, that almost forced me to refund the game.

In PC games, there are some aspects, that I extremely despise. And Motion Blur is at the top of that list. So when I started my first round in Evil Dead, I couldn’t continue for more than 5 minutes.

The in-built motion blur and Chromatic Aberration were making me feel extremely nauseous. I had no other choice but to immediately head over to the settings menu. And that is when I realized that Evil Dead, a game from an AAA studio, in the year 2022, doesn’t have a Motion Blur setting.

I was about to refund that game, and that is when I decided to check Reddit. And thank god that I did. Reddit user u/nyiddle came to the rescue. You can disable motion blur and anti-aliasing in Evil Dead. Here is how to do it:

How to Disable Motion Blur and Anti-aliasing in Evil Dead

To disable motion blur and anti-aliasing in Evil Dead, you will have to edit the config file of Evil Dead and add a few extra lines of commands. First, you need to go to this location:

  • C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\EvilDead\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

If the AppData folder is not showing up for you, then it is most probably hidden. Here is how to unhide it:

  1. Open any folder on your PC. It can be a new folder or an existing folder.
  2. Click on the View option at the top of the folder window
  3. There you will find a setting called “Hidden items”
  4. Check the box beside it

Now, inside the “WindowsNoEditor” folder, you will notice a .ini file called GameUserSettings.ini. That is the Config File of Evil Dead. You need to edit it. Make sure that Epic Games Launcher and Evil Dead are not running.

Create a backup of the file, first. Open the file with Notepad, or any text editor. It will look something like this:

Now, add these lines at the end of the Config file:
[SystemSettings]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0

This how it is supposed to look like:

That is all you have to do. Now, launch Epic and Evil Dead. And you should now probably be able to play the game without motion blur.

If this doesn’t work for you then you can try pasting this inside the Config File:

[/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0
r.BlurGBuffer=0
r.FastBlurThreshold=0
r.DefaultFeature.Bloom=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.MotionBlur.Max=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
