How to Disable Effects in NFS Unbound

The latest installment to the NFS series of games, NFS Unbound, is finally out and with it, has come a lot of new features.

Be it the simple mechanics of the game or the visual effects. The game definitely has a whole new experience to offer.

When it comes to the Visual effects, NFS has taken the effects to a whole new level. While some people enjoy the new effects, some seem to get annoyed by them.

Majority of the players have complained about certain new visual effects being “cartoonish”. We’re specifically talking about the trajectory and the colorful smoke effects that the rides leave behind.

This might be the next best thing for you or maybe you’d just prefer the old NFS effects. On the contrary, some people enjoy there being no effects at all.

Keeping that in mind, in this article by Frondtech, we’ll guide you with how you can disable effects in NFS Unbound, here it is:

How to Disable Smoke Effects in NFS Unbound

NFS earlier tweeted that the effects in the game could be disabled, however, in a following tweet, NFS clarified that the basic tail smoke and the trail lights cannot be disabled.

Players found this quite annoying as they found the features to be quite “cartoonish” or just unrealistic.

Following the same, a few people have figured out a way to make it look a little less cartoonish at least, if they cannot disable it completely. Here’s how you can make it look better:

  • Head to the rides menu and go to “Styles”.
  • Once you’ve done the same, head to the “Tags” section.
  • Here, select the Cloaked Tag.
Use the Cloaked Driving Effect to mask the Smoke Effects in NFS Unbound

The cloaked tag, unlike other tags, seems quite realistic, in the sense that it’s gray in color. As of right now, this is the possible best tag that you can choose to make the appearance look better. But of course, there are other options in there too, you could have a look around and select what you find the best for yourself.

We’re hoping that there’s an update to this in the future and NFS introduces an option wherein you could disable these effects, it’d be quite helpful to a lot of players and overall enhance the gameplay experience.

That’s everything we had on how to disable effects in NFS Unbound.
