Hood crashing or won’t launch – Players are facing crashes, launch issues, and various other errors while playing Hood: Outlaws & Legends PC. This guide consists of a list of the errors and how to fix them.

Game won’t launch
Does your system meet the minimum requirements
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: AMD FX 6300 X6 / Intel Core i5-3570K
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: 2 GB VRAM, Radeon HD 7870 / GeForce GTX 660
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 40 GB available space
- Additional Notes: 40 FPS, 1920×1080 in low.
Method 1 – Verify the game files
STEAM
- Right click on Hood: Outlaws & Legends under LIBRARY
- Select Properties
- Click on LOCAL FILES > VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES.
EPIC GAMES STORE
- Navigate to Hood: Outlaws & Legends in your Library and click on the three dots
- Once open, click Verify in the drop-down navigation
Method 2 – Do you have Unreal Engine 4 Prerequisites installed
- Right click on Hood: Outlaws & Legends > Manage > Browse local files
- Navigate to Hood > Engine > Extras > Redist > en-us
- Right click on UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe application > Run as administrator
Method 3 – Update Video Drivers
It looks like a lot of people have managed to fix the crashing issue of the game by just updating their video drivers.
Here are the links to the latest drivers for AMD and Nvidia graphics cards:
Method 4 – Update your Windows OS
- Right-click on the Windows Start button > Settings
- Click on Update & Security
- Click on the Check for updates button from Windows Update
Method 5 – Run HOOD: OUTLAWS & LEGENDS in Admin mode at startup
- Right click on Hood: Outlaws & Legends > Manage > Browse local files
- Navigate to Hood > Binaries > Win64
- Right click on Hood.exe application > Properties
- Click the Compatibility tab
- Check Run this program as an administrator and click OK
Method 6 – Allow HOOD: OUTLAWS & LEGENDS in Windows Security or the Anti-virus on your PC
- Right-click on the Windows Start button > Settings
- Select Update & Security > Windows Security
- Click on Virus & threat protection
- Click on Protection history under Current threats
- Search the Hood.exe application from Protected folder access blocked.
- Click on Actions > Allow on device
- Close Windows Security
Black Screen issue fix
Here is how to fix the black screen issue in Hood:
EPIC GAMES STORE
- Navigate to Epic Games > Hood > Hood > Binaries > Win64.
- Right click on Hood.exe application > Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check Disable fullscreen optimizations and click OK
STEAM
- Right click on Hood: Outlaws & Legends > Manage > Browse local files.
- Navigate to Hood > Binaries > Win64
- Right click on Hood.exe application > Properties
- Click the Compatibility tab
- Check Disable fullscreen optimizations and click OK
Crashing at startup issue
Application Load Error 3:0000065432
- Run Steam and click Steam (upper left) > Settings > Downloads
- Click on the CLEAR DOWNLOAD CACHE button and click OK
- Steam will restart automatically
- Right click on Hood: Outlaws & Legends under LIBRARY > Properties
- Click on LOCAL FILES > VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES
NOTE: This process will not affect your currently installed games, but you will need to log into Steam afterwards.
If you are using MSI Afterburner
- Open RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS)
- Click Add button (bottom left)
- Navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > Hood > Hood > Binaries > Win64
- Add Hood.exe application under Application profile properties
- Set Application detection level to None for the game application
- Close RivaTuner Statistics Server
Some Third-Party application could be the reason
The game does not explicitly support and may even see certain applications/software as a conflict or threat and as such refuse to run, or run with crashes.
Disable all background software or applications including, Antivirus, Firewalls, and any FPS boosting or monitoring software. Here is Steam explaining the whole thing. Please temporarily disable these applications and search which application is interfering with the game:
- Right-click on the Windows Start button > Task Manager
- Click on the Startup tab (click on More details to display the tabs)
- Restart the computer
Note : Many of the methods written under “Game won’t launch” section might also work in this scenario.
